The Kingdom of God, Pt 1 “Understanding the Kingdom” Matthew 19:23-27 1) READ Matthew 13:10-14. As you read the parable what are the issues which
Jesus brings to light? Why were some able to know the secrets of the kingdom while others were not able to know? Having read the parable, why was it so difficult for some to understand? GIVE a definition of the kingdom of God. 2) It was stated in the message, “TO UNDERSTAND THE KINGDOM WE MUST HAVE AN INSIDER’S PERSPECTIVE AND TO HAVE AN INSIDER’S PERSPECTIVE WE MUST BE INSIDE.”
READ John 3:3-5. A fuller explanation was given concerning the meaning of “born again.” What was that explanation? What does being born again accomplish for a person? How does one enter the kingdom of God? 3) What are some of the names given for the kingdom of God? (cf. Matthew
4:17; Revelation 11:15; Colossians 4:11; Ephesians 5:5; Matthew 9:38). What was part of the message of John the Baptist when he ministered in earth (Matthew 3:2)? 4) Is this idea of God’s kingdom strictly “otherworldly?” Why do some people
feel we only enter God’s kingdom after you pass away? Is that true? READ Matthew 19:23-27. Will a rich person enter the kingdom before or after they die (Be careful)? Is heaven available only if you are in a specific financial classification? What about intellectual classification? What is meant by the statement, “The kingdom of God is now and not yet?” After a person dies, can they be prayed into the kingdom of heaven by people who are alive? What if you really love and care for them? When then is the best time to talk about God’s kingdom to people and pray for them? 5) READ Matthew 19:29. What have you sacrificed for the Lord and what will
you get in return in heaven?
