esident beauty pro Tracy Worthington is the brainchild behind the year-old Wink Lash & Beauty Bar and Just Blow Drys. After 25 years in the L.A. beauty industry, the Palm Desert native returned to launch dual concept shops, which include everything from facials to a braid bar. Adding to Worthington’s credentials are her eponymous skin care and makeup lines enriched with botanicals, but it’s the mink lash extensions that are boosting the area’s beauty scene. Here, Worthington shows us how to get starlet lashes, and discusses current trends and the contents of her own cosmetics bag. Lash extensions are the new It beauty item. How does the application process work? I can’t live without lash extensions! The initial application is about two hours because we apply about 50 – 60 lashes per eye, although some clients prefer fewer [lashes], just along the outer corners. How long do faux lashes last? Individual lashes are applied onto your natural lashes with surgical glue, so the extensions shed with your own lashes. Return every two weeks for a fill-in, which takes 30 – 45 minutes. Tip: Avoid using oil-
based eye makeup remover and sleeping on your stomach, so they won’t get crushed. Do eyelash extensions trump mascara? With extensions, you wake up looking like you just curled your lashes and applied mascara, so you get the look without the work. Plus, there’s no worrying about runny mascara.

What new services does the beauty bar offer? A class for young girls called Teen Angel; we spend 90 minutes teaching them how to properly care for their skin and apply makeup that’s age-appropriate. What is one beauty product every woman should buy this season? Vitamin C day cream. The moisturizer is loaded with SPF, and vitamin C is an antioxidant that fights free radical damage and prevents wrinkles. What is in your personal beauty bag? BB cream, concealer, sunscreen, and my favorite lipstick: our fuchsia shade called Darling. I’m also never without my Rosebud Lip Balm.
