Computer assistance will be available to complete the online application, if needed.  The deadline for submitting electronic lottery applications is April 30, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.  When an application is submitted electronically and an email address is provided, an email confirming receipt of the application will be sent to the email provided. (If you do not receive the confirmation email in your inbox, please check your Spam folder.)  When you submit an application electronically, you may print a hardcopy of the application for your personal records. This option is available on the Next Steps page, which appears after you submit the application online. Step 2: The Lottery  Drew will conduct a lottery. The live lottery, where you will be able to view electronic results as they are assigned, will be conducted onsite at the Drew Charter School Junior & Senior Academy at the Charlie Yates Campus on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. The lottery is expected to last for approximately 30 minutes, and it is anticipated that it will be completed by 6:30 p.m.  Everyone who has submitted an application will receive a Lottery Identifier Number. Lottery Identifier Numbers will be used during the lottery to anonymously identify each applicant.

  

Lottery Identifier Numbers will be emailed, if an email address was provided when completing the application. If an email was not provided, Lottery Identifier Numbers may be picked up in person at the following locations and times: o Drew Elementary Academy, located at 301 East Lake Blvd.:  May 11th - 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. o Drew Junior and Senior Academy at the Charlie Yates Campus Theater, located at 300 East Lake Blvd:  May 11th – 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Due to limited space, children are not allowed to attend the lottery. You do not have to be present for your child to be in the lottery or to receive lottery results. Lottery results will be posted on the Drew website (www.drewcharterschool.org) on May 19, 2017.

Note: For the lottery, Drew Charter School will be using the proven technology of PowerSchool Registration, a well-known provider of online registration management tools for Charter Schools. Step 3: Admissions Status Notification  If your child receives an enrollment space through the lottery, an Acceptance Letter will be mailed on May 19, 2017.  If you receive an Acceptance Letter, you have until May 26, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. EST to enroll you child and submit all requested enrollment paperwork. If you have not enrolled your child by this date, you will forfeit your enrollment slot and you will be moved to the Waiting List.  If your child did not receive an enrollment space during the Lottery, your child will be placed on a waiting list, and a Wait List Letter will be mailed to you.  Offers from the Lottery Wait list, based on available space, will begin to be extended on May 30, 2017. Note: An Enrollment Packet Checklist is attached to this Guide. The checklist provides a list of all documents you will be required to submit for your child by May 26, 2017, if you receive an Acceptance Letter for your child to enroll at Drew. You will only need to submit Checklist documents if you receive an Acceptance Letter. (These documents should not be submitted when you submit the lottery application for your child.) Helpful Tips:  A student must reside within the Atlanta Public School zone on a full-time basis or be the child of a full-time Drew Charter School employee or Board member to apply for admission to Drew Charter School. The address of residence is subject to verification via phone, U.S. mail and home visits and all other legal means, by school administration or their designee, at any time while a student is enrolled at Drew Charter School.  The school does not accept affidavits for residency.  It is the custodial parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to ensure all information provided to Drew is accurate and true (i.e. Grade and Address).  For enrollment purposes, siblings are defined as children with a shared custodial parent/guardian and who share a common residence.  The address of a student accepted for admission to Drew will be determined based on the bona fide primary residence of the custodial parent/guardian. Custodial parent/guardian status requires legal verification.  If your contact and/or address information changes, please contact Ms. Mekka Raqib at (404) 450-0567 or send an email to [email protected] as soon as possible.
