History is a highly regarded subject for many career paths and all universi es will accept History as an academic subject.

What does the A Level course cover? At A Level you will study the Edexcel course. The potential course outline is as follows, but can be subject to change due to students’ areas of interest. AS Unit 1—Power, Belief and Conflict in Early Modern Europe. This unit has 2 sections, ‘The European Witchcraze, c1580-c1650’ and ‘Conflict and Conquest in Ireland, 1598-1692’ AS Unit 2— Britain in the later 20th Century: Responding to change This unit will focus on mass media, popular culture and social change in Britain since 1945. A2 Unit 3— The Challenge of Fascism This unit will focus on Germany ‘From Kaiser to Fuhrer’ and covers 1900 to 1945. A2 Unit 4— Historical enquiry (coursework unit) The Middle East and the Arab– Israeli Conflict c1900-2001. Where will history take you?

Employers in lots of different industries like Historians because they have a whole range of transferable skills. They know how to do research and to synthesise information from a number of sources. They are able to evaluate their sources and can weigh up the evidence and construct logical arguments. Unlike a lot of people we are very good at seeing both sides of an argument and then reaching balanced conclusions. All of this is very useful in the 'big wide world'. They have good communication skills. Historians are amongst the most 'employable' of all graduates. This table below shows some of the many career options that suit A level History.
