2011 US Open National Playoffs WHAT IT IS With the goal of connecting more people to the US Open and expanding its reach to communities across the United States, in 2010 the USTA launched the first ever qualifier for the US Open…the US Open National Playoffs. After an incredibly successful first year that saw 1,232 players compete for the chance of a lifetime, the US Open National Playoffs continues in 2011. In addition to a men’s and women’s singles qualifier, the 2011 US Open National Playoffs now includes a mixed doubles qualifier as well. Any person/team 14 years of age or older has the opportunity to earn a wild card entry to compete in the US Open Qualifying Tournament or the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The USTA is proud to offer the opportunity of a lifetime to tennis players around the world…a shot at playing on the biggest stage in sport…the US Open! HOW IT WORKS (US Open National Playoffs Sectional Qualifying Tournaments) • Sixteen USTA sections will run a US Open National Playoffs Sectional Qualifying Tournament between April 1 and July 4 at venues across the United States. • Each Sectional Qualifying Tournament will include three divisions: men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed doubles. • Registration for all Sectional Qualifying Tournaments opens for players/teams on March 15.
