你們看到新聞沒有？暴風雪來襲，外面積雪已經好幾尺深了，政府宣布 明天停班停課。 nǐmen kàndào xīnwén méiyǒu？ bàofēngxuě lái xí， wàimian jīxuě yǐjīng hǎojǐ chǐ shēn le， zhèngfǔ xuānbù míngtiān tíng bān tíng kè。 Have you seen the news? The snowstorm strikes! The snow is meters deep outside. The government has announced that there will be no school or work tomorrow.
B:
剛好啊！我本來還擔心期末報告趕不完了，放假也好，可以趁機專心寫 報告。 gānghǎo ā！ wǒ běnlái hái dānxīn qīmò bàogào gǎn bù wán le， fàngjià yěhǎo， kěyǐ chènjī zhuānxīn xiě bàogào。 What good timing! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to complete the end of term report. It's just as well there's a day off, I can use to time to concentrate on finishing my report.
A:
但是你看窗外，我的車一半都埋在雪裏了，這讓我怎麼專心寫報告啊！ dànshì nǐ kàn chuāngwài， wǒ de chē yībàn dōu máizài xuě lǐ le， zhè ràng wǒ zěnme zhuānxīn xiě bàogào ā！ But look out the window, my car is half buried in snow. How I am supposed to concentrate on the report?
B:
算了吧，凡事天定，別替車子擔心了，總比路上結冰還得開車上路好多 了。對了！咱們家裡還有沒有存糧啊？ suàn le ba， fánshìtiāndìng， bié tì chēzi dānxīn le， zǒng bǐ lùshang jiébīng hái děi kāichē shàng lù hǎo duōle。 duìle！ zánmen jiālǐ háiyǒu méiyǒu cúnliáng ā？ Don't worry about it. It's up to the heavens now. Don't worry about the car now. It's much better than having to drive on an icy road. Ah yes, do we have any food in storage.

呃！我想想，方便麵、麵包、即食麥片、水，啊啊！除了昨天的剩菜以 外，都沒有肉了，不過只要不停水，我們就還活得下去。

Apart from leftover's from yesterday, there's no more meat. As long as the water supply isn't cut off, we'll be able to survive.

說到停水，我更怕的是停電啊，這樣連報告都不能寫了，我們就成了名 副其实的受災戶了！ shuōdào tíng shuǐ， wǒ gèng pà de shì tíngdiàn ā， zhèyàng lián bàogào dōu bù néng xiě le， wǒmen jiù chéng le míngfùqíshí de shòuzāihù le！ Speaking of a water outage, what I'm more concerned about is a power outage. If that's the case, we won't be able to work on the reports at all. We really would become "victims" of this natural disaster.

If you think of all those poor people that can't even afford coal, you wonder how many people are going to freeze to death this time.

天災人禍對於老百姓來說真是最嚴峻的考驗，學校附近不是有片老房子 嗎？我看那裡有些屋子，牆都塌了半邊，希望裏頭住的人有個甚麼避難 所可以去。 tiānzāi rénhuò duìyú lǎobǎixìng láishuō zhēn shì zuì yánjùn de kǎoyàn， xuéxiào fùjìn bùshì yǒu piàn lǎo fángzi ma？ wǒ kàn nàlǐ yǒuxiē wūzi， qiáng dōu tā le bànbiān， xīwàng lǐtou zhù de rén yǒu gè shénme bìnànsuǒ kěyǐ qù。 These calamities are the harshest of tests for ordinary people. Aren't there some old houses near our school? Some of those houses are already half caved in! I really hope the people living there have somewhere safe they can go.
B:
我倒是聽說昨天學校開放禮堂讓需要的人進去避難，這會兒應該塞滿人 了吧。 wǒ dào shì tīngshuō zuótiān xuéxiào kāifàng lǐtáng ràng xūyào de rén jìnqù bìnàn， zhèhuìr5 yīnggāi sāimǎn rén le ba。 I actually hear that our school opened up the assembly hall for people that needed some refuge from the storm. I bet it's packed full of people.
A:
說著說著，風雪好像越來越大了。 shuōzhe shuōzhe， fēng xuě hǎoxiàng yuèláiyuè dà le。 The wind seems to be really picking up since we've been chatting away.
B:
咱們還是趕快去寫報告吧，別等到真的停電再來哀怨就來不及了。 zánmen háishì gǎnkuài qù xiě bàogào ba， bié děngdào zhēnde tíngdiàn zài lái āiyuàn jiù láibují le。 Us two best get back to working on our reports. Otherwise it'll be too late to complain when the power really does cut off.
