Photographer Ari Seth Cohen habitually ‘roams the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older folks’. You might have seen the results on his photo blog, Advanced Style, which has got a cult following and spawned a book and documentary. It celebrates the adventurous fashion sense of some the city’s most senior residents. ‘I have always had an affinity for older people,’ Cohen tells us. ‘My grandma was my best friend. As soon as I arrived in New York, I began to meet the most incredibly dressed, creative older men and women. I started the blog to show that style and vitality do not end at a certain age. I don’t think older people get enough attention in the media. They have so much to share and contribute.’ advancedstyle.blogspot.com

Yamazaki’s Single Malt Sherry Cask from 2013 caused quite a stir when it achieved the top score of

97.5 per cent in Jim Murray’s The Whisky Bible 2015, making it the highestranking whisky in the world. There are now around ten whisky distilleries in Japan, some strategically placed in locations that mirror the Scottish climate for optimum crafting conditions such as Fuji Gotemba at the foot of Mount Fuji. We think this calls for some of our own research…
