Philippians 1:6 (a) – “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you . . . ” Nearly four years ago we began planning the new education building. It’s construction phase is nearly complete and we are finally able to see the end in sight. At times the progress has been little, and occasionally frustrating, because we wanted it finished without delay. Having persevered in our decision to build, we are in the home stretch. It’s finish is drawing near! We have learned so much. In many ways this can be a picture of our life in Christ. Since our decision to trust Him, God has been building us up to a holy and heavenly standard. It may seem at times that there is little progress but He’s not finished with us yet. Knowing the Lord is the Master Architect, we need to trust Him with His entire plan. May we never forget that the completion of our salvation is in God’s control. And because it is, we can persevere in full assurance that He will never leave us nor forsake us. We can trust Him to see us through! Philippians 1:6 (b) – “ . . . will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” In Christ,
Ken From the Sunday School Director –

As September rolls in I start to think that Fall is not far off. As I think of Fall I start to think about football, leaves beginning to retreat into beautiful colors, and the smell of wood smoke wafting through the house. The Lord has provided us with so many blessings in spite of all the worst this world can throw at us. In John, chapter 14, it is so uplifting to read the direct words of Christ himself as he told His followers that he would send the Helper, the Holy Spirit to us. And of course He did. It’s an incredible experience each time we take the time to read from God’s word. God speaks to us individually when we open His word. He speaks to us through His called messenger each time a sermon is preached. He speaks to us through our Sunday School teachers each time a lesson is taught. If you are not taking full advantage of these opportunities to see what He has for you, I’d encourage you to give it a try. With the help of His Holy Spirit, the Lord will add to your life on this planet in ways you cannot fathom. Don’t miss out. See you Sunday!
With the new school year starting up that means it is time to get back full force. Christianne and I are putting together a new calendar for the 2014-15 school year. Just a few of our scheduled plans are parent/student breakfasts, movie night, evangelism on the square, and many more exciting things for our students to get involved with. This year's focus is on change. We will be changing rooms, attitudes, and our ways to serve. The students have spoken up and they are ready for this new challenge. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to grow. If you have any ideas or would like to come help serve with the youth, you are always welcome. Please remember our students in your prayers- this world is changing. Pray that they will change the world instead of allowing the world to change them.
From the Preschool/Children's Director -Anita Carty
The year is flying by and we have seen so much of God's love and mercies with our children and the church family this year. There were a large number of kids that attended RA and GA camp, we averaged more than 50 kids in VBS, and most important, many of our kids have made life changing commitments to Christ. Looking to the future we anticipate more growth and probably a few growing pains as we move to our new spacious class rooms. It is an exciting time for our church and we need to be committed to the task of praying for our children as they return to school. Pray that they will resist temptation to lie, cheat, and follow the ways of the world. Pray that they will embrace the fruits of the spirit and truly shine for Jesus. Pray that they will find boldness in sharing Christ. Pray that they will begin, continue, and end each day with an attitude of gratitude, and while you are at it, pray the same thing for me. Blessings, Anita

Greta Johnson has organized a handmade greeting card ministry with the intent of providing pretty greeting cards for the members of our church to purchase. The proceeds would then be given to the church to apply where needed. The group will meet in the Fellowship Hall from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. the 3rd Saturday of every month. Their first get together will be September 20. Even if you are not the crafty type, you might enjoy the time of fellowship. Please contact Greta at (940) 382-6782 for more information.
