The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Policies & Procedures for Obtaining Approval to Reproduce UTPB Logos and Marks Following is the information necessary for members of the University Community and our valued supporters to obtain permission to reproduce The University of Texas of the Permian Basin’s logos and marks. The University of Texas of the Permian Basin’s logos and marks were crafted in order to create a brand that is readily recognizable and reflective of the university’s history and values. It is important to monitor the use of our logos and marks and to make certain that they are reproduced in a way that is true to their colors and form. It is also essential that our logos and marks are used in an appropriate context. The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Policies & Procedures for Obtaining Approval to Reproduce UTPB Logos and Marks Internal Use “Internal Use” of the logos and marks occurs when a university group (students, athletics, academic components, etc.) reproduces the logo for university-related purposes AND none of the items are resold. Exceptions are made when university groups resell items for special events and fundraisers. Choosing the Right Vendor The vendor from which you purchase items from must be licensed with Learfield Licensing Partners. Check the current list of approved vendors before making a decision on the right vendor for your needs. A current list can be accessed on the Learfield Licensing website: Click Here. Search “Permian Basin”, click view and download the PDF. Please note that university logos and marks cannot be altered in any fashion. Permission to Reproduce Logos and Marks for Internal Use The steps in obtaining permission to use UTPB logos and marks by university groups are presented below. Please note that the approval process may take up to one week or more for completion. 1. Create a purchase requisition and include with it, the logo or mark you wish to use with a diagram of how it will appear on the item. a. Access instructions for creating a requisition: Click Here; b. If the proposed vendor is not on the approved list of vendors, the following options are available: i. Find a vendor who is on the list of approved vendors; ii. Request the desired vendor to apply for a license with Learfield Licensing Partners: Click Here; iii. Cancel your requisition request. c. Purchasing will place the order assuming the specified cost center has adequate funds within it.

University groups may reproduce the logos and marks without obtaining special permission as long as the following guidelines are followed: 1. The products are NOT being produced by a vendor/purchased from a vendor. 2. The products are not being resold. 3. The products are displayed only on campus. Examples include posters related to athletic events and/or campus groups and their activities. However… University groups planning to use the logos and marks off campus must complete the Request for Off Campus Use of the UTPB Logos and Marks Form included within this document. All product in this situation cannot be produced by a vendor and cannot be sold. A typical example would include posters displayed in places of business (restaurants and stores). Use of Athletic Marks for Internal Orders The use of some athletic marks are permitted for recognized student organizations, academic departments and other university departments. Approved marks include the Falcon head, “UTPB” block letters and “UT Permian Basin” block letters located on the current art sheet (available to your licensed vendors) and shown below. If desired, the name of certain entities (ex: Marching Band) can be used in conjunction with these approved marks in a simple font (ex: Times New Roman). Athletics font used on the current art sheet is not permitted. It is highly encouraged that academic departments and other university departments use the block letters due to the athletic-like appearance and use of the falcon. These policies are not designed to replace or alter the appropriate use of institutional marks. Academic departments in particular should still be using the institutional marks alone or in conjunction with the below marks. Each order will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but please use your best judgement.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Policies & Procedures for Obtaining Approval to Reproduce UTPB Logos and Marks Use of Kid’s Club Marks The UTPB Kid’s Club marks shown below and available on the art sheet are to be used on UTPB Kid’s Club product or youth apparel in retail only. If a campus entity would like to use the Kid’s Club falcon mark (first on left) on other product, permission must be granted by Athletics Director Steve Aicinena [email protected] before starting the approval process listed on page 2.

Use of University Seal The University Seal is reserved for the Office of the President, university awards and commencement materials unless approved by President David Watts for other uses.

If you or your group is creating objects/products for use off campus without the assistance of a licensed vendor, this form must be completed and approved by the Office of Communications and Special Products. No items may be resold. If your university group is purchasing product from a licensed vendor for internal use, you must adhere to the Permission to Reproduce Logos and Marks for Internal Use.
