Thank you: I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for welcoming me back with such love and thoughtfulness. Jeff and I had the most beautiful day on the 2 nd May and really appreciate your kind words and blessings upon this occasion. I am still adjusting to being called Mrs Loader and the children are helping me with remembering my new name. Thank you to Jan Oram and Patrick Dempsey for covering my role in my absence. Explaining the Trinity to children: It is not an easy concept for adults to understand, let alone children. In the past I have found that easiest way to explain the trinity is to use the analogy of the hats that we wear. By explaining to children that depending on what we are doing, depends on what hat we wear, and even though we change our hat we are still the same person. This is the same with the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God of unchangeable power, you have revealed yourself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit; keep us firm in this faith that we may praise and bless your holy name; for you are one God now and for ever. Amen.

Our Adopt A Cowboy, Antonio Winterstein visited our Preps yesterday during his monthly visit. Antonio joined our preps for their snack break and was able to share the NQ Cowboy's message of: 'Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well'. We enjoy having Antonio come into our school and appreciate Stockland's sponsorship of such a worthwhile program.

Year 5OC - Class in the Spotlight On Assembly this week, 5OC presented a reflection on the story of Pentecost. In our Religion unit, “How does the Holy Spirit rock my World?”, we have been learning all about the Sacrament of Confirmation and the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We have researched Scripture related to Pentecost and the Holy Spirit, we have learnt prayers, investigated how ‘the fruits of the Spirit” show us how to live our lives, created lovely watercolour art pieces and we have loved dancing and singing about our learning! 5OC working in our groups on our watercolours.

Frances Watt read to the Year 3 students. The children loved Mr. Crabclaw’s Crew and the Fearsome Frightening Ferocious Box.
Covering: Thank you to the wonderful prep parents who helped cover the new readers that will be in their classroom shortly. Our next get together will be June 12th at 1.45pm.
We need to read to successfully write.

WORD STUDY Week 7 Term 2 2015 Spelling Focus: The silent final ”e” is making the “c” and “g” say their second sound. This is the third job for the silent final “e” syllable e.g. chanc/ chance, chang/ change The letter “j” cannot end English words. Each time there is a “j” sound at the end of a word, “dge” or “ge” are used. When spelling, this rule teaches us to use “dge” after a vowel saying its first sound and “ge” after a vowel saying its second sound. At home: Test out this rule on these words- say them aloud! Here’s a few words to get you started.. cage, since, dodge, voice, badge, juice, face, large, carriage, audience, ledge, sentence. Can you think of some more?
Grammar Focus: Complex Sentences A complex sentence contains one independent clause and at least one dependent clause. Complex sentences always use a subordination conjunction such as because, although, since, after. Unlike a compound sentence, a complex sentence contains clauses that are not equal. e.g. Compound sentence- My friend invited me to a party, but I do not want to go. Complex sentence- Although my friend invited me to a party, I do not want to go. By adding “although”, it makes it clear that the fact that your friend invited you is less important that the fact that you do not want to go.
At home: Write a compound sentence and then change it into a complex sentence.
