#EverydayTCC  Act like who I am! — I see beyond people’s external appearances “From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard Him thus no longer.” 2 Corinthians 5:16 ESV

— I work hard to persuade others! “Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart. For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.” 2 Corinthians 5:11-13 ESV

— Through our compelling, compassionate, unselfish lives and words! — Crazy for God, but attractive to others! — Relay runners carrying the baton of reconciliation! “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 ESV

Build His Kingdom

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven .” Matthew 5:16 ESV

TO BUILD GOD’S KINGDOM THROUGH MY LIFE I NEED TO...  Fully grasp what He did! “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 NIV

 Know who I am! — In Christ I’m made brand new! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

— I’m now controlled by the love of Jesus, not myself and my own agendas!

“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ESV

LESSON AIM: The aim of this lesson is to learn about and embody our call to build God’s Kingdom.

GAT HER: 15 MINUTE S _____________________________________________________

4. Read Luke 15:1-10. If you were gathered around Jesus with these others, which group would you most likely be in? When you accepted Jesus, did you know that there was a party in Heaven for you? How does it make you feel? How can this help us to be good ambassadors? 5. Read Roman’s 10:13-15. How do these verses challenge you? What are your biggest fears when it comes to being the “messenger?” DIGGING DEEPER: Read Mark 12:29-31 and John 13:34-35. Relating back to Paul’s motivation in the verses we read from 2 Corinthians, why is love such an important ingredient to building God’s Kingdom? How does this motivation differ from that of the door-to-door salesman we discussed earlier?

PRAYER: Ask God to be present and to open your hearts to His Word.

ICEBREAKER: When was the last time you were visited by a door-to-door salesman? What were they trying to sell? Did you buy it?

Are there people in your life who have not yet been celebrated in Heaven like the one lost sheep? Who can we demonstrate purposeful love to?

KEY VERSE: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16 ESV

Reflect on 2 Corinthians 5:16. Is there someone in your world who hasn’t shown any receptivity to the hope that you have? How can this verse be an encouragement to you? Does this verse motivate you to continue demonstrating love to them?

1. On Sunday we discussed “Building God’s Kingdom.” How did God speak to you during this message? Share what you learned with our group. 2. Read 2 Corinthians 5:11-21. What things motivated Paul in sharing this “message of reconciliation.” What is the message of reconciliation that Paul shared?

GLOR I F Y: 1 5 M I N U T E S _____________________________________________________ As we close tonight, let’s reflect on the joy God has at our presence in His family. Let’s rest in His joy for a moment by reading Ephesians 1:3-8. Let’s pray together. January 31, 2016

3. In verses 18-19, Paul described our commitment to this message, and then he described us as “Christ’s ambassadors.” What does it mean to be an ambassador? If you have a dictionary (or Google!) you might even look it up. How does this term help us to understand our calling?
