SWA’s landscape concept reinforces the original Frederic Law Olmsted plan by extending the use of Mexican Fan palms along the historic axis between the railway station and the high school. Pedestrian walkways are enhanced with trellis structures reminiscent of those designed by Irvine Gill. Street furniture and graphics were chosen to capture this historic period. SWA worked closely with the developers in coordinating graphics for presentations to community groups, the Redevelopment Agency and the City Council.
