Volunteer Coach Agreement
This form is to be completed by volunteer assistant coaches and accepted by the University administrative members listed below. This form indicates a volunteer assistant coach’s agreement to abide by NCAA, Conference, Institutional, and Department of Athletics rules and regulations. NCAA Bylaw 11.01.5 Coach, Volunteer - In sports other than football and basketball, a volunteer coach is any coach who does not receive compensation or remuneration from the institution's Department of Athletics or any organization funded in whole or in part by the Department of Athletics or that is involved primarily in the promotion of the institution's athletics program (e.g., booster club, athletics foundation association). The following provisions shall apply: a) The individual is prohibited from contacting and evaluating prospective student-athletes off campus or from scouting opponents off campus and may not perform recruiting coordination functions. b) The individual may receive a maximum of two complimentary tickets to home athletics contests in the coach's sport. c) The individual may receive complimentary meals incidental to organized team activities (e.g., pre- or postgame meals, occasional meals, but not training table meals) or meals provided during a prospective student-athlete's official visit, provided the individual dines with the prospective student-athlete. VOLUNTEER COACH RELEASE: In consideration of being granted the opportunity to participate as a volunteer coach with THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF Department of Athletics, I agree to comply with the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the NCAA, Conference, and UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF ME. I understand that I will be required to attend training sessions scheduled by the Department of Athletics concerning compliance with these regulations and policies. I also understand that a volunteer coach is a coach who may not receive compensation or remuneration from the Department of Athletics. I further understand that I am not an employee of THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF and that THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF is not responsible for any personal or bodily injuries I incur while serving as volunteer coach. As a condition of participating as a volunteer coach, I agree to carry individual medical insurance coverage and furnish information on that coverage to the Department of Athletics. In consideration of being granted the opportunity to participate as a volunteer coach, I, for myself, my executors, administrators and assigns, also release and forever discharge THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF, and its Board of Trustees, its respective entities, administrators, faculty members, employees, agents, and students, from any and all claims of damages, demands, and any actions whatsoever, including those based in negligence, in any manner arising out of my participation as a volunteer assistant coach. I agree that I will furnish to the Department of Athletics an account annually of any income I receive that is directly related to my position as a volunteer assistant coach with THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF.

VOLUNTEER COACH ACCEPTANCE My signature below indicates that I agree and understand the following parameters in agreeing to serve as a volunteer coach: I agree that the head coach or appropriate administrator shall determine the duties and responsibilities of this position. I agree to abide by all the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Conference, THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF, Department of Athletics, as well as individual team rules and regulations. I certify that I am not currently receiving any compensation from THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF, any organization funded in whole or in part by the Department of Athletics or a booster group. I also certify that I am not employed in the same sport at a high school, preparatory school or two-year college. I agree to comply with all NCAA and conference rules and interpretations, as well as all athletic department compliance policies and procedures. In the event that I become aware of, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation has occurred involving NCAA, conference and/or University rules, policies or procedures, I agree to report it promptly to the Director of Athletics or the Office of Compliance. I agree to submit a resume with this agreement at the commencement of my first year of service. My signature below affirms that I have read the above information and understand my obligations as a volunteer coach. I understand that under NCAA bylaws, I am prohibited from: o contacting or evaluating prospective student-athletes off-campus o scouting opponents off-campus o receiving more than two (2) complimentary admissions to home athletics contests (in my sport only) o receiving any compensation from the Department of Athletics o coaching the same sport at the high school or two-year college level o participating or coaching an outside camp/clinic/team without prior approval from the Office of Compliance Services o teaching private lessons to prospect-aged individuals Legislated Exception – for the sports of equestrian or women’s golf o receiving expenses (e.g., transportation, lodging, meals, etc.) from THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF in conjunction with a competition in which I am a participant. I am permitted to: coach student-athletes receive transportation to and from, and room and board expenses, at away competitions receive complimentary meals incidental to organized team activities (e.g., pre- or post-game meal, occasional meal) but not training table meals provide student-athletes occasional, infrequent transportation to and from practice or class receive two complimentary admissions to home athletic events in my sport. Additional tickets may be purchased at face value.
