Churches in Christian, Stone and Taney Counties working together to extend the Kingdom of God February 2017
During the last week of January, a team from Tri County churches traveled to Woodward, Oklahoma and endured near-zero wind chill temperatures to share Christ’s love by assisting homeowners recover from the recent ice storm. Tom and Peggy Anderson, TCBA Disaster Relief directors and members of Union Ridge Baptist Church in Stone County, report: “Once again, we were blessed with a great, hardworking team! Several members on our team had not been on a call out at all, and others had not been on a chainsaw call out. Thank you to those who gave up their week to spend time working hard in the cold wind. We hope we were able to be as much a blessing to the homeowners as they were to the team! There are so many ways to serve our Lord and this is one of them!” Although the work is done entirely by volunteers, your gifts to TCBA provided equipment and help with the team’s expenses while on call-out. To learn more about how you can be a part of this ministry either by giving or going, contact us at TCBA (417) 725-8825.

PARATROOPER, POLICEMAN, PASTOR One of the joys of my ministry is spending time with the dedicated men that pastor the churches in our Tri County region. I love to hear their stories, especially how God called them to ministry and what He’s doing in their lives. Dave Bowden, pictured above, tells some fascinating stories...which is to be expected, I suppose, from a guy who once worked as a Special Forces paratrooper (“jumping out of perfectly good airplanes!”) and as a beat cop in St. Louis and Springfield. As you talk to him, though, you get the sense that Dave’s greatest adventure—and greatest honor—is to serve as bi-vocational pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church (located in northern Stone County.) Dave started preaching there a couple of years ago as a supply preacher...to 7 faithful people. God has used Dave’s humble, loving heart and now the church has more than tripled in size. Dave is quick to give God the credit (where it belongs), but I suspect that in Dave Bowden, God found a “man after His own heart”—who with no pretensions of greatness just loves his flock and feeds them the true spiritual milk of the word of God. I’m thankful that through TCBA, your church is part of providing leader training and resources to Pleasant View as God is doing “a new thing” there. It’s the “power of together”—working and witnessing until Jesus comes!
