VLine Scripts VLine News Red.ex4 VLine News Yellow.ex4 VLine News Orange.ex4 Copy these Scripts to the appropriate “MT4 > Experts > Scripts” Folder
Purpose These Scripts are designed to Place Red, Orange or Yellow Vertical Lines on the chart as a guide/reminder of when Red (High Impact), Orange (Medium Impact) or Yellow (Low Impact) News announcements will be made – as displayed on the free Forex Factory Calendar web site. These Scripts were designed for use particularly when using Short Term Charts (Scalping). The lines can be placed on Charts prior to commencing trading for the day on the Pairs that you follow and then you won’t have to worry about being aware of pending News announcements.
Usage 1. Drag the desired Script onto a Chart and the Script will draw a Red, Orange or Yellow Vertical Line on the last Bar/Candle of the chart. 2. Left-Click (or Double Left-Click) to Select the line, then Right-Click & Select “Vertical Line Properties”. 3. On the “Parameters” Tab, edit the time to the correct time for the Announcement. 4. On the “Common” Tab, in the “Description” box, type descriptive Text (optional). 5. Click “OK”. The line may disappear on a Low Time Frame chart if the announcement is some time away but as the announcement approaches, the line will appear from the right of the chart.
Tips I personally only use the Red line as I am only interested in High Impact announcements & I only use the Script when trading on M1, M5 charts. If the Description does not appear at the bottom of the line in Vertical Text, then Right-Click on the Chart background > Properties > Common and make sure “Show Object Descriptions” is checked. You can place the Vertical Lines on the Chart of each of the corresponding pairs that you wish to follow or you can stick them all on a single chart if you prefer. Make sure you have adequate blank space on the right hand side of your chart by dragging the “Chart Shift” triangle near the top right edge of each chart. The Vertical Lines will draw on the blank space as the time approaches & give you a visual warning.
To get the most out of the Forex Factory Calendar, it is best if you synchronise the web site clock with your Broker’s time … 1. Open the “Market Watch” window in MT4, take note of the time shown there – this is your “Platform” or “Broker” time. 2. Go to the Forex Factory Calendar at http://www.forexfactory.com/calendar.php 3. Check the Clock on the top line of the Times column in the table. 4. If the time shown there is the same as you Broker, then you are set. If not, then click on the Clock itself and the “Time Options” page will Open. 5. Select the “Time Zone” that gives you the same time as shown on your MT4 Market Watch window. 6. Once they are the same, click “Save Changes” then Click “Calendar”. 7. Check the Clock at the top of the times column against your MT4 time as a final check. 8. Click on “Today” in the Navigation pane on the left. You should see all of today’s scheduled announcements. Pick the Pairs & Announcements that you wish to be ready for and use the Scripts to place the Vertical Lines on your charts. Check your MT4 time against the Forex Factory time EVERY time you start to do this operation and adjust of not synchronized. ---ooo0ooo---
