Candidates for TCU Senate Class of 2017 Nesi Altaras

My name’s Nesi Altaras and I’m running for Senate. Like everyone else running, I was in student government in high school. I’m from Istanbul, Turkey but I now live in Tilton. I’m planning on being an IR and Econ double major and I’m running because Tufts is my home and I want to work so that others feel the same way.

Jacob Cantor

Hi, I’m Jacob Cantor. I’m a freshman from Wilson House and super stoked to be running for TCU Senate. In the past, I have been my school president and lead the coalition to change our American Indian mascot. I’ve developed the skills to work with administrators, legislators and aim to represent the whole student body. Yes We CANtor. Cheers!

Jacqueline (Jackie) Chen

My name is Jackie Chen and I’m running for TCU Senate. I want to be in Senate because Tufts students need an advocate. As a senator, I will bring a diverse perspective to a decision making body that doesn’t quite look like our school’s population. I will be that voice for you.

Malachy Donovan

My name is Malachy Donovan, and I am running to represent the Class of 2019 as a TCU Senator! If elected, listening to you will be my top priority. I will represent every club and interest on campus to the best of my ability. From installing gender free bathrooms to allowing financial aid to undocumented immigrants, the TCU Senate has an amazing track record. As senator, it would be an honor to work for continued inclusiveness and equal opportunity in the Tufts community.

Rayane Haddar

Hey, my name is Rayane and I am an international student from France. I am running for TCU Senate because I am beyond excited at the prospect of representing such intelligent and active community. While it would be silly to promise you that I will get you the best toilet paper that is currently manufactured in the world, I guarantee you that I will be an extremely active Senator and make sure that your voice matter and count.

Frederick Hissenkaemper

Hey Class of 2019! My name is Frederick Hissenkaemper and I am an international student from Germany running for TCU Senate.

Akshat Jain

Greetings Jumbos! My statement isn’t going to be the quintessential kind: bragging about my talents or making empty promises. I recognize that this is a social contract of mutual trust and one thing I can definitely assure you of is being a strong representative voice, fearing or favoring none. It’s your vote. Vote Smart. Vote for Akshat.

Kathryn Jason

Tufts is a great community, and I already feel at home here. If elected Senator, I hope to use my position encourage Tufts to divest from its investments in fossil fuels and will try to make the process for creating new clubs more straightforward. Above all, I want Tufts to be a welcoming, safe environment for everyone!

Sobhon Khairy

One of the biggest reasons I chose Tufts is because of the active and diverse population of students. The reason why I am running for TCU Senate is to ensure that these groups of students have what they need. The students in these groups have rigorous academic careers at Tufts, and as a member of Senate, I will make sure that we, as a Senate, are not another obstacle they must hurdle over. My experiences as a leader have emphasized the responsibility to look at a situation through many lenses. If elected to Senate, I promise to consider the perspectives of all groups in order to make equitable decisions regarding the allocation.

Brian Kipchumba

Hello fellow Jumbos! My name is Brian Kipchumba and I am running for senate. Being part of the Student Government at my previous institutions has given me the experience to lead my fellow classmates. I want to be YOUR voice and I welcome you to share YOUR issues with me, because I’m confident that together, there’s nothing we can’t solve!

Gregory A. Kulchyckyj

I’m chasing the privileged opportunity to serve you through the TCU Senate. With four years of student council experience, I am confident in my ability to act upon the voice of our student body. This is your home. Your voice. Allow me to represent you all through persistence, commitment, and action. Louden Your Voice, and Vote for Greg.

Chris Leaverton

Hi guys! My name is Chris Leaverton and I’m running for TCU Senate to represent YOU! Tufts is such a diverse community and I will ensure Senate represents the the many and NOT the few! I want to be the people’s senator! Whatever issues matter to you: inclusion, housing, T Rates, or toilet paper, I PROMISE to fight for!

Linda Lee

Hey Class of 2019! My name is Linda Lee and I’m from Belmont, MA. I was a class officer for two years, and with that experience, I gained the four skills essential to being a student representative: organization, creativity, communication, the ability to publicize on a large scale, and most importantly, persistence. Vote Linda Lee for TCU Senate!!

Woody Nimoityn

I will advocate to get the University to subsidize tickets to non-university events and make library printing cheaper to ease the financial burden on students. I want to promote unity and participation in our community and involvement in University politics. If more students are involved in the community, and informed about issues, more active change will occur on campus.

Cameron Pennell

My name is Cameron Pennell and I’m running for TCU Senate. I want to represent the students at Tufts; I want to represent you. I have the experience to go in on and day one and make those changes our community needs. In high school, I served on my high school’s Senate for four years, as chair twice. I know that I can come into the TCU system, and swiftly and effectively fix the problems we face.

Adam Rapfogel

I have no grand list of things to accomplish. I’ve been at Tufts for less than a month, and I’m not going to pretend to have solutions to all of its problems. What I can promise, however, is to listen to you and your ideas and to focus on improving the school in ways that matter most to you.

Emily Sim

Why vote for Emily? 1. I take my own guac to Chipotle 2. I’m waiting for that Frank Ocean album, too. 3. Make Tufts Great Again! More than anything, I really care about representing YOU. I care about the quality of your Tufts experience. Tufts is pretty great already but it can always be better. And you deserve the best.

Phil Song

I’m from Los Angeles and went to prep school in Connecticut. I’m thrilled to be part of the Tufts community this year and am passionate about making a difference on campus! I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know as many of my fellow jumbos as possible and if you see me around, feel free to say hi! ashton

Stephens

I’m a Biomedical Engineer. I like things that make sense, and work well with people, and a lot of res life’s policies and many of the organization systems used on campus don’t do either of those things. I intend to work for better integration of online programs, organization of clubs, and an improved iJumbo app.

Uku-Kaspar Uustalu

My name is Uku-Kaspar Uustalu and I am an International student from Estonia. (A small country in Europe, near Finland.) I am the only Estonian undergraduate at Tufts and I hope to bring a brand-new and unique Estonian perspective to Tufts’ decision making body and really help make Tufts a better place for students from all around the world.
