St. Patrick’s Day March 17th
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: If Arlington County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, all senior centers are closed for the day. When Arlington County Public Schools are delayed 2 hours, senior centers are open on time. However the congregate meal program is cancelled and there will be no meals or transportation provided for the day. Please call about the specific status of programs and classes during delayed days.

NEW FRIGID WEATHER POLICY: If Arlington Public Schools have a delayed opening due to extreme frigid temperatures and the county government is open (either on time or with a delayed opening) Department of Parks and Recreation will proceed as follows: All senior congregate meal programs (located at Langston, Walter Reed and Arlington Mill) are cancelled.

Thurs., March 6, 1-2 pm BETTER HEALTH – SWITCH ON YOUR BRAIN New advances in neuroscience are shedding light on what it really takes to head off cognitive decline. Please join Senior Adult Specialist Nancy Connors in a discussion about the things that Science tells us that our minds needs to stay sharp. Fri. March 7, 11am-noon DO YOU HAVE HEALTHY VEINS? Unhealthy leg veins are a serious issue that affects up to 50% of woman and 30% of men over the age of 50. This condition can lead to tired, heavy and achy legs, big bulging leg veins, leg swelling by the end of the day and lower leg ulcers. The Center for Vein Restoration will discuss signs, symptoms, treatment options and how to keep your leg veins healthy. There will also be a "live" leg ultrasound demonstration. Tues., March 11, 6:30-8pm LOVE YOUR HEART: HEALTHY SEAFOOD COOKING A cooking expert from Virginia Cooperative Extension will demonstrate healthful seafood recipes. Learn healthy, affordable recipes for eating seafood twice a week. Sample some new food and take home recipes to try. Thurs., March 20, 1-2pm ARMCHAIR TRAVEL TO UGANDA Join Sandy and Gail on their trip to Uganda, republic in eastern Africa. Uganda is rich in wildlife, particularly primates, the most spectacular of which are the mountain gorillas located in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Observing the gorillas in the wild involves a significant hike in this forest containing few trails. You will agree, however, on watching the extensive footage of these gentle creatures that the hike was well worth the effort.
