Web Technologies is an introduction to designing and publishing web documents. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of how the Internet works. They will learn to create graphics for their web pages. They will learn and use the basic building blocks of the World Wide Web: HTML coding, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript.
Conference Period: 2:36–3:24
They will also learn and follow the steps to create a website by planning, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining website projects. Students will learn and use different scripting technologies to create more dynamic and interactive websites. They will learn what it takes for a career in web development as they complete projects and create their own Web portfolio.
Course Format This will be a very hands-on class. I will introduce new skills and work exercises with students. Students will also do tutorials and exercises on their own. Once we get the basics down, we will do a lot of projects,
both individually and in groups. These can be fun, but you need to manage your time. You should finish most, if not all, of your assignments in class, so homework will be rare. However, if you do not
finish your assignments, it will be up to you to complete the work at home or arrange a time to come in if you need to use the lab.
Please feel free to contact me. The best way to get a hold of me is through email. If you would like a meeting, I am available during my conference period or after school. Please call or email me to m a ke a rra n gements.

Mrs. Westbrook’s Classroom Rules In addition to the rules and procedures found in the Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct, and Student Dress Code, I expect students to follow these general rules in my classroom: ⇒ Be on time, on task, &
prepared EVERYDAY. EVERYDAY
to
learn
⇒ Keep all personal electron-
ics put away! ⇒ Be responsible for your
own learning.
⇒ Respect the teacher, the
classroom, other students, and yourself. ⇒ Clean up after yourself!
More specific rules include: ⇒ Cheating or plagiarism will
not be tolerated. ⇒ No food or drinks in the
computer lab (not even water).
If students follow these rules, are generally respectful and courteous, and get their work done, we will get along just fine!
⇒ Only authorized use of com-
puters allowed.

Grading & Absence Policy Success in any class is up to you! It takes practice to master Accounting concepts. We will work problems together and you will work on assignments, projects, and simulations on your own and in teams. Don’t shortchange your success by not fully participating. In accordance with the school’s grading policy. The six-week grade will consist of the following: •
45% - Tests & Projects
•
45% - Daily Work (35%) & Participation (10%)
•
10% - Six-week test
Page 2
The semester grade will consist of an average of the three six week grades. Late assignments will be entered in the gradebook as “M” for missing. This will count as a zero until replaced. Up to a 30 point penalty will be assessed for late assignments. Assignments will not be accepted more than two days after the due date unless arrangements are made with me. If you can’t finish an assignment on time, turn in what you’ve got (Anything is better than a Zero!).
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up your work. Students will have extra days to turn in assignments or take tests equal to the days missed for excused absences. No additional time will be given for unexcused absences. If you know you will be gone (UIL, sports, etc.), Turn the work in before you leave if possible. I have tutorials scheduled before and after school. The tutorial schedule is posted by the door.
