WILDCATS SET RECORDS IN SEASON OPENING WIN

Weber State rolled to a 109-50 win over NAIA school Northern New Mexico Friday night and in the process the ‘Cats set a couple of school records. The 59-point win is the largest margin of victory in school history. The Wildcats also set a school record with 17 three-pointers. Weber State never trailed in the game and shot 60 percent from the field. WSU was 17-29 from three-point land. It was the first time the ‘Cats have scored over 100 points in a game in nearly ten years. The ‘Cats had six players in double figure scoring, led by junior Damian Lillard who had 25 points in his first action since breaking his foot last December. Lillard was 8-11 from the field and knocked down four three-pointers. Scott Bamforth had 17 points and was 5-5 from three-point land. In his first game as a Wildcat Frank Otis finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds on 5-5 shooting. Kyle Bullinger and Jordan Richardson each had 11 points and freshman Mike Brown added 10 in his first game with the Wildcats. Richardson led the team with seven assists.

FRANK OTIS POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN DEBUT

Playing in his first official game as a Wildcat junior Frank Otis made a strong debut in Friday’s win. The Oakland, Calif. native posted a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds in helping the Wildcats to the victory. Otis, nicknamed “Mook”, started the game and played 26 minutes for the ‘Cats in his first action since transferring from SMU and sitting out last season. He was a perfect 5-5 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line. He also dished out four assists and had a team-high two steals.
