2.12.2016 It has been lovely listening to the children’s singing and ac ng as they start to prac ce for the Christmas performances. We are pleased that the new mings we introduced last year for these performances has allowed the normal metable to con nue for longer again this year. We are all looking forward to the performances in the last week of term and par cularly excited to be using our new stage ligh ng for the first me. The charity we will be collec ng for this year at the Christmas Performances is Shine South, a local organisa on that is here to help and support children, young adults and families, who are affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus within our area. Thank you to those of you who were able to come to the focus parent forum mee ng on Thursday. Although a small group we had a really produc ve discussion and I feel came away with some really useful ideas which will contribute to developing further links within the local community sec on of our strategic plan. The impact we are enhancing is that children, staff and parents have a posi ve impact and play an important role within the local Hil ngbury community. The whole strategic plan is available to read on the website with a link at the bo om of the Vision Statement page. I am very pleased to welcome Mr Stephen Hilton to our Governing Body as a co‐opted governor. We are looking forward to welcoming him to the next full governing body mee ng in the new year. Have a great weekend Kind regards Cathy Moden

Mrs Cathy Moden - Headteacher I have always been passionate about how children learn and have been a teacher for 30 years starting my career in Surrey and moving to Hampshire in the late 1980s. I have been at Hiltingbury since September 2005, originally as the Deputy Headteacher. Since 2010 I have periodically acted as the headteacher, appointed fully to the post in March 2014. I have many years of experience of being a governor both at Hiltingbury and at my previous school. As the headteacher I attend the meetings of the full governing body and the committees. It is a pleasure to work in partnership with such an enthusiastic and proactive governing body who provide both support and challenge to ensure high expectations and outcomes for all. We have a strong vision and an ethos at Hiltingbury Infant School and it is very exciting to be working in collaboration with the Governors, staff and parents to move the school forward from our outstanding Ofsted inspection, in a period of significant change in education.
