We’re experiencing huge demand from our members – children, adults and families all over the world who would like to stay in a British home for a short break so they can improve their English. You don’t need any teaching skills (if you do hold a relevant EFL qualification, you can become a Lingoo Homestay Teacher). All you need to offer is accommodation, home-cooked meals, and lots of friendly support with your guest’s conversation skills. Our Host Families range from the traditional – with two adults and one or more children – to one-parent families, young couples without children, retired couples and people who live alone.
How does it work? Becoming a Lingoo Host Family is like running a home business. That’s because you’re in control. You decide who stays in your home, when they stay and for how long. You have contact with guests before you accept a booking so that you can get to know each other first. You also set your own prices and decide what activities you can offer, from day trips to hang gliding or simply walking the dog. What your guests will be looking for is an authentic experience of British family life and, most importantly, the opportunity to speak English in everyday situations. You will be helping them to build confidence and fluency in a supportive environment.

How do I get started? Start by creating a detailed personal profile on Lingoo.com where you can also read lots of advice from other Host Families. Once your profile is approved, your offer will go live on our site so students can start contacting you. After initial contact, you get to know each other and start discussing the details of the stay. When everything is agreed, you accept your first booking. Joining Lingoo is free. Lingoo only takes 13% or less of the income you earn from its members.
