2017-2018 Alliance Coach Bio Name: Wendy Munzel Professional Background: Stay at home Mom, Alliance Coach and retired High School Coach Personal: Happily married to Jeff Munzel with two boys TJ & Tanner, I love watching my boys compete in soccer and golf, walks with my friends and dogs, and curling up with a good book. Education: Graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from University of Houston Coaching Philosophy: I coach because I love the sport, and am passionate about the girls’ enthusiasm to learn and execute both on and off the court. I have been blessed to coach so many players over the years and to watch them become collegiate players, club & high school coaches, and to invest time in young players themselves. It truly is a great sport!!
Playing Experience: I was a 4 year D1 middle blocker, playing at University of Houston for Bill Walton, and was an All American 2nd Team. I stayed to coach in the last year of the legendary SWC and won the conference beating THE UT Longhorns. While a player, we advanced to NCAA tournament 3 out of 4 years. I assistant coached at Houston for 3 years then founded Texas Tornadoes. I’ve been coaching club since I was 18 and have been to Nationals numerous times, even won the Women’s 30+ in New Orleans in 2006.
