Western Album II Sewing Instructions 1. Use the 3” x WOF Fabric F strips to border the gunfighter strip and the boots strip. Sew the strips to each side of the panel, then the strips to the top and to the bottom of the panel. Trim the blocks to the listed size (Fig. 1).

3. Use the 2 ½” x WOF Fabric C strips to border the (7) 5 ½” Fabric B squares. Sew the side strips first, then the top and bottom strips. Trim the blocks to measure 8 ½” square to make (1) B-block (Fig. 3). Repeat to make (7) B-blocks total.

2. Use the 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strips to border the strips shown in Figure 2, sewing the side strips then the top and bottom strips. Trim to the listed dimensions.

4. Place (1) 2 ⅞” Fabric D square on top of (1) 2 ⅞” Fabric K square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 4). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 4). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 5) to make (2) KD units (Fig. 6). Trim the KD units to measure 2 ½” square. Repeat to make (56) KD units total.

7. Place (1) 3 ½” Fabric H square on the left side of (1) 3 ½” x 18 ½” Fabric I strip, right sides together (Fig. 9). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 9). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 10). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) 3 ½” x 18 ½” HI strip. Repeat to make a second 3 ½” x 18 ½” HI strip.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.) 15. Sew the horseshoe block, the cactus block, the gunfighters block, (14) 3 ½” Fabric E squares and (15) 3 ½” Fabric D squares to make upper left block.
21. Sew the (6) blocks together to make the quilt top.
16. Sew the cow skull block, the rose block, the barrel block, (12) 3 ½” Fabric D squares and (12) 3 ½” Fabric E squares together to make the upper center block.
23. Sew the pieced borders to the sides, top and bottom of the quilt top.
17. Sew the windmill block, (13) 3 ½” Fabric D squares and (13) 3 ½” Fabric E squares together to make the upper right block. 18. Sew the town scene block, (10) 3 ½” Fabric D squares and (10) 3 ½” Fabric E squares together to make the middle block. 19. Sew the cards block, the poker chips block, the boots block, the stagecoach block, (17) 3 ½” Fabric E squares and (17) Fabric D squares together to make the lower left block. 20. Sew the gun belt block, the shotgun block, the barbed wire block and the boots block, (16) 3 ½” Fabric E squares and (16) 3 ½” Fabric D squares together to make the lower right block.
22. Sew (1) 2” x 81 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 2” x 60 ½” Fabric G strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.
24. Sew (1) 6 ½” x 90 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 6 ½” x 78 ½” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 25. Layer and quilt as desired. 26. Sew the (9) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 27. Bind as desired.
