Cutting Instructions Please note: all strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted. From the Cowboy Panel - Tan (Cowboy Panel - Sky) (A): • Fussy cut (2) 9” x 13 ½” rectangles, each centered on a rope and post panel. • Fussy cut (2) 9 ½” x 7” rectangles, each centered on a six-shooters panel. • Fussy cut (2) 12 ½” x 6 ½” rectangles, each centered on a fence and wheel panel. • Fussy cut (2) 11” x 12 ½” rectangle, each centered on a windmill and barn panel. • Fussy cut (2) 13 ½” x 10 ½” rectangle, each centered on a three cowboys panel. • Fussy cut (2) 8 ½” x 12” rectangle, each centered on a wagon panel.

Western Album Sewing Instructions 1. Sew (1) 2” x 13 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 9” x 13 ½” Fabric A strip. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 12” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A strip. Trim the block to measure 10 ½” x 16 ½” to make (1) Block One (Fig. 1). Repeat to make a second Block One.

Page 2 7. Place (1) 4 ½” Fabric G square on the top left corner of (1) 8 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 3). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

8. Follow Figure 4 for the seam direction to add a 4 ½” Fabric G square to each of the remaining corners of the 8 ½” Fabric C square to make (1) Block Seven (Fig. 5).

Trim the block to measure 12 ½” x 14 ½” to make (1) Block Four. Repeat to make a second Block Four. 5. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 13 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric A strip. Sew (1) 2” x 17 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A strip. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” x 16 ½” to make (1) Block Five. Repeat to make a second Block Five. 6. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 8 ½” x 12” Fabric A strip. Sew (1) 2” x 16” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A strip. Trim the block to measure 10 ½” x 14 ½” to make (1) Block Six. Repeat to make a second Block Six.

9. Repeat Steps 7-8 to make (7) Block Sevens total. 10. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric B strip and (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric E strip together, lengthwise, to make (1) side strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of (1) 4 ½” Fabric D square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric D square to make (1) Block Eight center (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (3) Block Eight centers total. 11. Sew (1) 1 ½” Fabric E square, (1) 1 ½” Fabric B square, (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric E strip, (1) 1 ½” Fabric B square and (1) 1 ½” Fabric E square together, in that order, to make (1) strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Block Eight center to make (1) Block Eight (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (3) Block Eights total.

Western Album 12. Place (1) 3” Fabric B square on the left side of (1) 3” x 5 ½” Fabric F strip, right sides together (Fig. 8). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 8). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 9). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

13. Place another 3” Fabric B square on the right side of the 3” x 5 ½” Fabric F strip, right sides together (Fig. 10). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 10). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 11). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) BFB unit.

14. Repeat Steps 12-13 to make (8) BFB units total. 15. Sew (1) BFB unit to each side of (1) 5 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) 3” Fabric F square to each end of (1) BFB unit. Sew the four corner blocks together to make the quilt top. 21. Sew (3) 2 ½”Fabric F squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric G squares together, alternating them, to make (1) strip. Sew this strip to the end of (1) 2 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric F strip. Sew the strip to the left side of the quilt top. 22. Sew (5) 2 ½” Fabric F squares and (5) 2 ½” Fabric G squares together, alternating them, to make (1) strip. Sew the pieced strip to (1) 2 ½” x 44 ½” fabric F strip. Sew this strip to the right side of the quilt top. 23. Sew (5) 2 ½” Fabric G squares and (4) 2 ½” Fabric F squares together, alternating them, to make (1) strip. Sew this strip to the end (1) 2 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric F strip. Sew this strip to the top of the quilt top. 24. Sew (4) 2 ½” Fabric G squares and (3) 2 ½” Fabric F squares together, alternating them, to make (1) strip. Sew the pieced strip to (1) 2 ½” x 42 ½” Fabric F strip. Sew this strip to the bottom of the quilt top. 25. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 68 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 66 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 26. Layer and quilt as desired. 27. Sew the (8) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric G strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 28. Bind as desired.
