•Students enroll in college and high school simultaneously. •Partnership is between Austin ISD and the Austin Community College District (ACC). •The initiative allows students to earn tuition-free, college credit that also satisfies high school requirements. •Students can earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree. •William B. Travis Early College High School is the only high school with the ECHS designation in south Austin. •Students who meet college-readiness standards may start college courses their freshman year. •Students can take more than 6 hours a semester. •Students can attend college classes during the day at William B. Travis Early College High School or at an ACC campus. •Textbooks are free. •Students will have access to the full range of ACC support services including college advising, career counseling and free tutoring.

What is Early College High School? A Great Opportunity! William B. Travis Early College High School provides the opportunity for students to earn an associate degree or up to 60 hours of credit towards a bachelor's degree while in high school. Early college high schools are an innovative way for high school students to earn both a high school diploma and a two-year associate degree (or up to two years credit toward a bachelor’s degree) in the time it takes to go to high school - saving the student both time and money. Early college high schools are focused on getting students on a direct college path. They are different than college preparatory schools, since students are actually taking college courses, not simply preparing themselves for college. William B. Travis Early College High School is ready to make college possible to more students.

The Program •Cohort classes in all core (English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies) pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement classes •College field trips •Core classes will still allow for participation in most elective classes •Travis High School will have a delegated ECHS staff member to serve as the students full time advocate •Enhanced academic resume and scholarship opportunities •Enrolled in ACC and University of Texas Dual Credit Classes •Enrollment in college preparatory course (MAPS and/or AVID) •Regularly scheduled meetings for parents and students to discuss academic progress and financial planning for college and communicate with the principal •SAT preparedness classes within the school schedule and summer •Specially trained teaching staff

Tuition Costs There are no tuition or books costs for William B. Travis Early College High School students or their parents. THE PROGRAM IS FREE. William B. Travis Early College High School is an outstanding value and investment of time and effort for our students. IN TEXAS COLLEGES, THE AVERAGE COST FOR 60 HOURS OF COLLEGE CREDIT IS $23,458.
