Wind farms project, Taiwan Wind farms produce clean renewable electricity that will replace power generation based mainly on fossil fuel sources, thus reducing CO2 emissions.
Locations This bundled project is situated on the west coast of Taiwan, near Taichung. Changbin wind farm is located inside Changbin Industrial Park in Changhua County while Taichung wind farm is located in Tachia and Taan.
Project This Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reduction (GS VER) project involves the development of two wind farms in Taiwan. Wind electricity generation produces no carbon dioxide emissions, leading to a direct carbon offset of the greenhouse gases generated from the carbon intensive Taiwanese electricity grid that is primarily supplied by coal fired power generation. Greenhouse gas emission reductions are achieved by the project activity through utilizing wind power to generate electricity, which otherwise would be generated through fossil-fuel power plants. The two wind farms consist of 65 wind turbines, each having a capacity of 2.3MW. At full capacity, the aggregated output of the project is expected to be 507 GWh / year, which is delivered to the regional state electricity authority, Taipower.
