Winter CSA 2016 Pat's Pastured provides the highest quality pasture-raised and grass-fed meats. Our goal is to provide our livestock with a life that allows them to express their natural instincts fully in a pasture environment. That means that pigs get to root, run and play; chickens get to peck, scratch and crow; turkeys gobble and strut; cows eat grass outside, NOT corn in confinement. This winter season we are offering two share options. The composition will depend on what is seasonally available...that's the beauty of eating locally and in season. Poultry Share Each MONTH (November through April), your share will include 3 whole chickens (or approximate 12- 13 pounds), 1 parted chicken (breasts, legs & thighs, and wings & tenders) plus 2 dozen free-range eggs. You will receive wings for two of the six months because they are packed in larger quantities. The Cost: For a 6 month subscription the share cost is $585. Meat Share Each MONTH (November to April), your share will include 10-15 pounds of meat* plus 1 dozen freerange eggs. The meat will always be from at least two species, but we will do our best to include some meat from all species available (pork, chicken, and beef). We will make every effort to include a mixture of species and a mixture of premium to economical cuts. *Some months the total weight will be slightly less when smaller, higher-priced cuts are included. Sample share A: A monthly share may include 1 whole chickens, 1 lb ground beef, 1 lb chorizo, 1 lb pork chops, 1 lb beef shoulder steak, 1 lb pork spare ribs, 1 lb of bacon, and 1 dozen eggs. The Cost: For a 6 month subscription the share cost is $650. You can register for our CSA Program in 3 Easy Ways: 1. Register online at: www.patspastured.com with a secured PayPal transaction 2. PAT’S PASTURED MEAT & POULTRY CSA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Please read thoroughly before joining. What is a "CSA”? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a way for the foodbuying public to enter into a relationship with a farm and to receive a share of the harvest. By making a financial commitment to a farm, people become "members" (or "shareholders), of the CSA. This effort represents a formal mechanism for more affordably supplying meats that are raised locally, ethically, sustainably, and humanely. What does it mean to be a member? As a member, you will: • be committed to a monthly package •

receive priority ranking for special products such as Thanksgiving turkeys

earn right of first refusal on membership renewal for each season

be welcome to attend one of our farm tours (Dates TBA) at no charge

receive priority registration on scheduled farm events, and

most importantly, be assured of continuous availability of product for your family instead of taking the risk that we may not have availability throughout the year.

Can I specify which cuts I get? No, we're sorry. We make every effort to distribute the cuts randomly and fairly, this is logistically challenging enough so that we can’t accommodate special requests. You are welcome to order on an à la carte basis based on availability on a pre-order basis or through farmers’ market sales. Can I skip the pork/chicken/eggs and get double beef instead, etc? No. Sorry. (See above.) I live alone and cannot eat that much meat / poultry. Can I buy a half-share? We are not able to offer half-shares but we have a number of members who make arrangements directly with neighbors / friends to divide a share in a way that works for them. You might also consider posting a note on our Facebook page if you are looking for someone to split a share with. I can’t make the scheduled pick-up. Can I pick up the following week instead? It is your responsibility to pick up your share on the scheduled days. If you are unable to do so yourself, you should make arrangements to have a friend or neighbor pick up for you. That being said, we certainly understand that emergencies arise and can accommodate changes / special arrangements on a very limited basis as necessary. What's in a Meat Share package? Each month's share will usually be a mixture of whole chicken, a mix of grilling and braising pork and beef, and a dozen eggs. (See first page for samples.) The composition will be different depending on what is seasonally available...that's the beauty of eating locally and in season.

Am I going to get stuck with chicken feet or a beef tongue? No, but those items may be available "à la carte". We do not include offal or organ meats in the general shares. How does the meat come packaged? It is package in a cryovac packaging. This packaging preserves the meats quality and allows it to be stored in a freezer for several months. All meat is frozen per requirements of the RI Health Department. Pick-Up Site – pre-assembled share packages are delivered to two distribution site based on the pick -up location you indicate on your registration form. Am I required to work at the farm as part of the CSA? We do not currently require work hours to be included in our CSA, however we strongly recommend that you get involved and get out to the farm as much as your schedule allows. There are many ways you can help on the farm (while learning and having fun at the same time) from weekly egg-washing to special work day events. Being on the farm is a great way to really experience the community in Community Supported Agriculture! Cancellations and refunds – When you register you are committing for the full six month season. If for some reason you are unable to receive your share you may obtain a refund by finding someone to replace you / take over your CSA. We are unable to give refunds directly. Satisfaction – It is our intention, first and foremost, to provide our customers with the highest quality grass-fed and pasture-raised products. If you have any questions or concerns about our products, please contact Patrick directly at [email protected]. Credit Card Payments and Technology fees - As an added convenience to you, we now take credit card payments for CSA registrations. We have implemented a technology fee of 3% for those paying with a credit card. If you prefer not to pay for the technology fee, you can still pay by cash or check in person or by mail.
