WOODEN MEMORIAL CLASSIC (Round Robin + Tournament)

MAY 20 - 21, 2017 The Virginia Basketball Academy (VABA) and the VABA Bruins are pleased to sponsor the Bruins Wooden Memorial Classic in memory of Coach John Wooden, VABA’s inspiration. This tournament will be held at Charlottesville High School (East of Charlottesville/Albemarle, 1 hour from Richmond, and 2 hours from Northern, VA, 1 hour from Lynchburg) and other area schools. We hope you will be able to participate. Each team entering the tournament will play a minimum of three games (2 pool play and 1 tournament game). We are accepting entries in the following categories: Boys (4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th) Girls (4th/5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th ). WE ARE ACCEPTING THE FIRST FOUR-SIX TEAMS THAT REGISTER IN EACH DIVISION. This will be a two-game round-robin (Day 1, and possibly Day 2), plus a single-elimination tournament or championship game (Day 2). Your team will play a minimum of three games. This will be great warm up for qualifier tournaments. Pools will close registration one-week prior to the start of the event.
The entry fee is $225/team Payable to Virginia Basketball Academy (VABA). Space is limited so please submit the entry form (REGISTER ONLINE or NEXT PAGE) as soon as possible to reserve your team’s spot to this event. Please email a copy of the entry form to the Tournament Director/Scheduler, Marcus Dixon at [email protected] (804-815-1189) and send original with payment to the address above. All games will be officiated by VHSL certified officials. All Rules, Confirmations, Tournament Schedules, and Directions will be sent out in Coaches Packet or are accessible on our website at www.PlayVABA.org (Bruins Tournament page). This is a non-sanctioned tournament. However, all age rules regulating sanctioned tournaments shall apply and be enforced. Coaches should have accurate birthdates on hand and submitted with the roster prior to the tournament day. Concessions will be available. Outside food or beverages are not permitted (except at team benches).
