SHAWN MCELROY As summer break comes to a close there is a common phrase around my house. “Where did the time go?” We start off with big plans of organizing, home projects and road trips but before we know it the break is coming to a close and we have only made it halfway through our list. If I’m truly honest with myself I have to admit that I didn’t run out of time. I let other things fill it. This is not that big of a problem when it comes to home improvements but I worry that we do the same thing in our faith. It is easy to be distracted by other things and lose focus on our relationship with God. I love Paul’s attitude in Philippians 1:21 where he says, “to live is Christ, to die is gain.” It’s harder to lose focus when Christ permeates all that you say and do. Let’s make sure we are focused on the right things. And if you don’t make it through your summer “to do” list either then don’t worry, there’s always fall break.
