A writer’s notebook is a book where you will create stories, memoirs and memories. For this assignment you need to decorate your writer’s notebook for the year. Everything you put on this notebook should be able to help you come up with ideas on what to write about in case you hit a writer’s block!
What to do: 1. Design the notebook’s front AND back cover. (Inside covers are optional.) 2. Now think of what makes you happy. Family? Friends? Pets? Do you have special memories of special places you’ve been? What do people think of when they hear your name? Use photos, pictures or magazines to design your notebook! Here are a few examples: ◦ Do you take piano lessons? Does a performance stand out in your mind? If so, you could cut out a picture of a piano and glue it on your book to remind you of that performance. ◦ Did you have a close baseball game where you determined the result of the game? Cut a picture of a baseball to help you remember that time. ◦ If you had a great vacation at the beach, glue a picture of a seashell or a picture of your family there. ◦ Glue a picture of a place you have visited when memories really stood out to you. ◦ Add a picture of your pet to the notebook. 3. Finally, cover the photos, cut-outs and decorations with clear packing tape or Mod Podge so they stay together the whole year!
