1. Overview 1.1 What does this exercise cover? In this course, you will understand the rapidformXOR User Interface. You will understand about Pan, Zoom, Rotate, Selection Filters, Model tree, Views, Docking Bars, Customizing toolbars, Dialog tree and Display tab.

2. Process 2.1 Open File 1 You can open a pre existing file using File > Open. Select User_Interface.xrl and click Open button.

2.2 Rotate, Zoom and Pan. 1 Middle Mouse Button You can rotate the model by clicking the left mouse button and dragging when the mouse cursor looks like toggle between

(Rotation mode). Click the mouse middle button to

2 Zoom You can zoom the model by moving the mouse wheel in the outward or inward direction. If you move the mouse button towards you, the model is zoomed in. If you move the mouse button away from you, the model is zoomed out. You can also zoom the model using Shift + Mouse Left click. When you click Shift + Left mouse button, the mouse cursor changes to

3 Zoom Area You can click Shift + Z to zoom to some particular area in the model. Or you can click View > Zoom > Area. This is a toggle key so to terminate zoom area click Shift + Z again.

4 Zoom Fit You can click Ctrl + F to zoom fit the model. Or you can click View > Zoom > Fit. Zoom fit will fit the model to the window.

5 Pan You can pan (move) the model by holding the Ctrl + Left mouse button and move when the mouse cursor is like

2.3 Selection filters 1 You can use below selection filters to select various kinds of entities in the model. You can filter Meshes, Regions, Poly-faces, Poly-vertices, Mesh boundaries, Bodies, Faces, Loops, Edges, Vertices, Ref. Geometries or Sketches.

(Clear All Filters) can be used to clear all the selection filters. (Filter Meshes) allows selection of meshes only.

(Filter Regions) allows selection of regions only.

(Filter Poly-faces) allows selection of poly-faces only.

(Filter Poly-vertices) allows selection of poly-vertices only.

(Filter mesh boundaries) allows selection of mesh boundaries only.

(Filter Bodies) allows selection of bodies only.

(Filter Faces) allows the selection of faces only.

(Filter Loops) allows the selection of loops only.

(Filter Edges) allows the selection of edges and curves only.

(Filter Vertices) allows the selection of vertices and points only.

(Filter Ref.Geometries) allows the selection of ref.geometries only.

(Filter Sketches) allows the selection of sketches only.

2.4 Show/Hide entities using model tree 1 Show or Hide You can show/hide entities in the model by clicking the items in the model tree.

If the icon looks like , the entity will not be visible in the Model View. For example in the above scenario the Top plane is not visible in the model. If the Parent Node is made invisible, all the child nodes are invisible irrespective of their status. For example in the below tree though Fillet1 and Extrude7 are visible, as the Solid Bodies node is made invisible, no bodies are shown in the model.

2.5 Views 1 Viewpoint You can see the model in various view points. You can view the model from Front, Back, Left, Right, Top and Bottom. Click Viewpoint to change the view point.

You can use the short cut keys Alt + 1, Alt + 2, Alt + 3, Alt + 4, Alt + 5, Alt + 6, Alt + 7 to view the model in Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom and Isometric views respectively. Click or View > Viewpoint > Align to set the view direction of the model by selecting an entity.

2.6 Docking Bars 1 Docking Bars There are many docking bars in the view like Accuracy Analyzer, Properties, Feature Tree, Model Tree, etc.

You can make the docking bars floating by selecting the floating option as shown below.

2 Show / Hide Docking Bars You can hide the docking bars by clicking close ( ). You can view them again by selecting in the right click pop up menu in the tool bar area.

2.7 Customize Toolbars 1 Open Customize Dialog Box You can customize tool bar by selecting Customize in the pop up menu.

2 Customize Dialog Box The following dialog box appears when you select customize. Go to the Toolbars tab and you can view the existing tool bars. Click New to create a new tool bar and enter the name of the tool bar. Click OK. New tool bar is created.

3 Add Icons Now you can drag and drop the icons on to the new tool bar.

Toolbar created as above is just like any other toolbar. You can show/hide it using the pop up menu.

2.8 Customize Dialog Trees 1 Open Preferences You can customize the dialog tree using File > Preferences. Go to the Display tab. You can change the background color and the properties for dialog tree.

You can change the back ground color for dialog tree. You can enter a new color number and when you click Apply, the change is reflected. You can change the properties like Text size, Font and control colors etc.. You can also customize the background color of the view.

2.9 Display tab 1

World Axis You can show/hide World Axis in the Display tab. If the World Axis is enabled, following world axis is visible in the view.

Scene Grid If Scene Grid is enabled, the grid is visible in the view as shown below.

Gradient Background Gradient Background option can be used to display a gradient background in the view.

Label If Label option is enabled, you can see the labels for the ref. geometries in the view as shown below.

Dynamic Draw If Dynamic Draw option is enabled, the model is drawn dynamically when the model is in motion.

Back Face If Back Face is checked, Back Face Color box will be activated. Within it, there are 3 options. If Complement is selected, a complementary color of the front face color will be used for the back faces. If As Is is selected, the color of the front faces is used for the back faces also. If User Defined is selected, a user defined color will be used for the back faces.

Transparency If Transparency is checked, you can select an entity type. Selected type will be transparently shown in the Model View.

Projection Method If Perspective is selected, the model is projected with perspective. In this case, the part at foreground appears bigger, while the part at background appears smaller. If Parallel is selected, the model is projected parallel to the viewing plane.

View Point You can select the direction of viewing. You can set the view Point mode as Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom and Isometric.

10 Lock If Lock is enabled, you can view the model in only one view point. You cannot rotate it. 11 Synchronize All View If Synchronize All View is checked, the viewpoints in all the views will be synchronized with that of the current view.

12 Shading Method This is the Shading method of the model. If Smooth Face is selected, the faces are shaded and the connected faces are blended smoothly. If Flat Face is selected, each triangular face is shaded using one color and the connected faces are not blended. If Vertex is selected, the vertices are displayed.

13 Vertex - If Vertex is checked, each vertex is drawn. Edge - If Edge is checked, the edges of triangular faces are drawn. Face - If Face is checked, the triangular faces are drawn. 14 Boundary If Boundary is enabled, all boundary vertices are shown in red color.





15 Dynamic Display Ratio To change the amount of the data displayed when model is in motion, select a value in the Dynamic Display Ratio box. This option is enabled only when Dynamic Draw is checked.

16 Static Display Ratio To change the amount of the data displayed when model is static, select a value in the Static Display Ratio box. 17 Geometry Type If selected “all”, all geometry types are displayed. If “selected only” is selected, only selected geometry types are displayed.
