The Coaches
Corey Thomaston is in his seventh at LeTourneau University and has a 41-114 record with the YellowJackets. Thomaston was honored by his peers following the 201213 season by being named ASC East Division Coach of the Year. That reason was evident as he took his YellowJackets and guided them to a 13-12 record, their first winning season since 2001-02, and guided to a tie for fourth place in the ASC East, also their highest finish in well over a decade. During his tenure at LeTourneau, Thomaston has placed five members on the All-ASC East Division squads, as well as four members on the All-ASC East team. He also coached the 2011-12 Newcomer of the Year in Sharday Cotton. Previously, he served as an assistant coach for the NCAA Division I Radford University women’s basketball program from 2002-07.
Paul Allen Duke is in his 19th season as head coach of the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws. He heads into tonight’s contest with an all-time mark of 322-141.

The 2014 season marks the 18th year of play in the American Southwest Conference in league history and the first to begin play without an East and West Division. Regular season play begins Nov. 15. The three-day, eight-team, single-elimination conference tournament is slated for February 28-March 2 at the site of the No. 1 seed and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship will be on the line. Best Start Since 1996-1997
LeTourneau is off to its best start (3-1) since the 1996-97 season when the YellowJackets’ under the direction of Hall of Fame head coach Mary Ann Otwell posted a 30-4 overall mark. The YellowJackets started the season with a program-best 7-1 mark. Double Double #1
With the double double performances, last time out vs. East Texas Baptist, by Julencia Curtis (18 pts., 13 reb.) and Alexis Wighaman (14 pts., 13 reb.), the last time that LeTourneau had two players with double doubles was when Denee McKay (24 pts., 10 reb.) and Katrina Visina (19 pts., 10 reb.) achieved the same feat on January 26, 2006. Double Double #2
Ashley Stephens recorded the first double-double (13 pts., 12 reb.) in the 56-47 win over the University of Dallas (Nov. 15). The last YellowJacket to have a double double in a season-opening game was a 13 point, 10-rebound effort by Katrina Visina in 2005 against Rhema Bible.
From Start to Finish - ALMOST
The YellowJackets led for 19:14 of the game on Friday, Nov. 22 against Hendrix. The YellowJackets will be led by its three seniors Julencia Curtis, Jessica Manas and Alexis Wighaman. The three have combined to play in 223 games (avg. 74) and made 111 starts (avg. 37) in three-plus years at LeTourneau. Manas leads the trio with 79 games played and 52 starts. Going the Extra Mile
A Pre-Thanksgiving Delivery
Senior Ashley Fajardo and freshman Ashley Reed each handed out four assists in the win over East Texas Baptist. The last time that LeTourneau had two players with at least four assists in a game was when Jessica Manas and Laura Driskell dished out seven and five assists, respectively against Sul Ross State on December 6, 2012. Block Party
The four blocked shots each by Julencia Curtis and Ashley Stephens against the Unviersity of Dallas were the most by a LeTourneau player since DeShante Thomas blocked five against Texas-Dallas on Feb. 18, 2012. The YellowJackets recorded 10 blocked shots against the Crusaders which were the most since a 10-block effort at Texas-Tyler on December 16, 2011. Dialing Long Distance
Senior Ashley Fajardo hit a career-best 5 three pointers in the win over ETBU. The last time that a LeTourneau hit five 3 pointers was on December 3, 2009 when Alexis Poplear did so against Mary Hardin-Baylor in a 65-64 win. Fireworks - Offense
The 97 points that LeTourneau put up on the Solheim Arena scoreboard against Sul Ross State (Dec. 6, 2012) is the most since a 100-point effort against Jarvis Christian on November 18, 2008.
Senior Jessica Manas and junior Rebecca Stewart took off-season conditioning to the extra mile. Both were members of the LeTourneau University women’s cross country team that finished a program-best fourth at the ASC Championships. Manas clocked a season-best 5k time of 25:03.4 at the Demon Invitational (Oct. 12) and a season-best 6k time of 30:40.88 at the ASC Championships (Nov. 2) as she ran in all six meets for the YellowJackets. She finished as the YellowJackets second runner in all five meets; plus she posted a pair of top-20 finishes including a season-best 13th place finish at the Demon Invitational. Promotional Corner
