YOUR PLANNING GUIDE TO EDUCATION EXTRAVAGANZA & CLASS TRIPS AT MOREY’S PIERS This guide is meant to provide important information for teachers, chaperones, parents and students in order to help prepare you for your upcoming visit to Morey’s Piers. The safety of our guests is our first priority. Please take a moment to carefully read this guide in its entirety. If you should have any questions prior to your visit, call our school programs coordinator at 609-522-3900, ext. 1195, or email
[email protected].
BEFORE YOUR VISIT Students should wear appropriate attire for the water park. Bathing suits are required in the water park (no cut off shorts, etc.). Water shoes are NOT permitted in the water park.
Any student that does not follow directions or that does anything that could be deemed unsafe to themselves or others will not be permitted to ride. We ask all parents to please determine if their child can act in a safe manner without constant adult supervisor. If their child cannot, the child should not be permitted to participate.
Students should pack a towel and change of dry clothes. They should not bring anything in glass containers (such as perfume, make up or body spray). Glass is NOT permitted in the water park.
Teachers should please complete a Chaperone Contact Sheet. This sheet includes a list of the students on the field trip along with chaperone names and cell numbers so we are able to contact a school representative in case of an emergency. Turn in your Chaperone Contact Sheet to our event staff at the Event HQ upon your arrival at Morey’s Piers.
Students should wear shoes when walking on the boardwalk and the piers and while riding amusement rides. They should also bring a jacket as it is often cooler at the shore. Students should apply sunblock liberally and pack sunglasses and a hat to protect against the sun. Students should bring cash for locker rentals, snacks/ lunch, or souvenirs. Loose articles are not permitted on rides (including cell phones). Plan on renting a locker to safely secure valuables. The fee to rent a locker is $10-15 depending on the size.
All parents and chaperones must review Morey’s Piers safety policies and Morey’s Piers Accessibility Guide with their students prior to the trip.

[email protected] DURING YOUR VISIT Chaperones should use the buddy system with students in groups of 3. Students should be instructed that if they get separated from their buddies they should go to a designated check-in location (pick an easily identifiable location on the Pier, such as the Parents Pavilion or the Ferris wheel). Any student who is not certain where to go should look for a Morey’s Piers supervisor. Supervisors are easily identifiable by their radios. Students can also go to any Guest Services or First Aid location. Students should carry their school ID with them or wear identifiable school t-shirts.
DO NOT RUN! Running can lead to slips, trips, and falls. Take your time when moving about the facility.
Some pools are up to ten feet deep. Students must know their swimming level and limitations. New or weak swimmers or students with a history or seizures must wear lifejackets while in the Water Park.
✔ In the unlikely event that a ride stops in an unusual location, stay calm and remain seated. The ride can start moving at any time. Wait for instructions.
While on the rides and slides, ✔ Remain seated at all times and always follow operator instructions. ✔ If you get scared while on a ride, stay calm, remain seated, and hold on tight. If possible, try to tell the operator to stop the ride. If not possible, just remain seated and hold on. Most rides only last around 2 minutes.
Students who are fearful of heights must avoid high rides. To make sure they are comfortable on a ride, students should observe rides/slides and read all instructional and warning signs before participating. Don’t go on any ride or slide that you do not feel comfortable with. Wait for your buddies at the rides / slides exit.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR CHAPERONES As a chaperone you have been entrusted with the welfare and supervision of the students in your charge. Please take a moment to review these key points: Chaperones must be engaged in the supervision of their students throughout the duration of the visit. Please keep cell phones on audible and vibrate in case we need to contact you throughout the day. Complimentary Chaperone wristbands may be picked up at event check-in on Morey’s Piers. Chaperones must be listed on the Chaperone Contact Sheet provided by your school in order to receive a complimentary chaperone wristband.
