YOUTH BIBLE DRILL – Grades 7, 8, 9 (CHURCH SAMPLE DRILL – RED CYCLE) We have five different types of Drills:

Our first drill is LOCATING BOOKS OF THE BIBLE. I will name a book of the Bible. On the command “Start,” you will look for the book and when you find it, place your index finger on any verse and step forward. If you are called upon, you will give the name of the book preceding the one called, the book called, and the book following the one called.

This is the SCRIPTURE SEARCHING DRILL and there will be five calls. I will announce a Scripture to be found and will give the command “Start.” A participant must locate the Scripture reference and place his index finger on the verse before stepping forward. When called upon, he must read the verse and state the Scripture reference. These references have been selected from the Bible at random. ATTENTION CALLERS: THE KJV WILL BE PRINTED IN REGULAR FONT, THE HCSB IS ITALICS AND UNDERLINED, THE NIV WILL BE BOLD PRINT

This drill is IDENTIFYING VERSES. There will be a total of five calls. I will say a phrase of the Scripture in the King James version, followed by the same phrase in the Holman Christian Standard Bible and the NIV. It may be any part, the opening, the closing or the middle part. The participant must correctly locate the verse and place his index finger on the verse before he steps forward. When called upon, he must be able to read the entire verse and state the correct Scripture reference.

This is the DOCTRINAL DRILL and there will be five calls. I will announce a doctrinal statement taken from the doctrinal drill list. A participant must correctly locate the verse listed with that doctrinal statement and place his index finger on the verse before he steps forward. When called upon, the participant must be able to state the doctrine, read the verse and state the Scripture reference.

The last drill is the BIBLE ANSWERS DRILL. I will ask you a question taken from the list. You will locate the verse which answers that question, place your index finger on that verse, step forward, be prepared to quote the question and the verse from memory, and give the Scripture reference. I will instruct all to close your Bibles before I call on one to recite. 21. ATTENTION Present Bible WHO IS JESUS?
