Description
Shi and Yani Mining Development Ltd (SYMDL) is the holder of an exploration permit No. 20649-HQ-LPL for exploration of copper on the old Mkushi concession in the Central Province of the Republic of Zambia. This concession is located about 55 km south-east of Kapiri Mposhi in Chief Chikupili's area within Luano district. The proposed old Mkushi Copper Mine Project will involve revamping of operations at the old Mkushi mine site using open pit mining method to exploit the rock that host copper mineralization. The mining will be conducted using hydraulic excavators to mine the ore. The ore will then be transported to the mineral processing plant where it will be crushed, after which it will then be milled before being further processed to produce copper concentrates. The project is expected to last for more than 15 years and the mine life is expected to be extended through further exploration. The investment cost to cover this is estimated at USD$10 Million. Current planning includes the following phases: i. Phase 1: Site preparations and pre-production; ii. Phase 2: Mine production (Year 1 - 15); iii. Phase 3: Future expansion; iv. Phase 4: Decommissioning and closure.
