Three competitions with increased endowment For its 10th anniversary, Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) will optimise the structure of its competitions and increase its prize money. Instead of the previous four categories (International Feature, German-‐Language Feature, International Documentary and German-‐Language Documentary), ZFF has rearranged its competition section to comprise three categories. The two top categories, International Feature Film and International Documentary Film, will be joined by the ‘Focus’ competition category, showcasing feature films and documentaries from Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The Golden Eye in each of the two main categories will in future be endowed with 25’000 Swiss francs, with the winner of the Golden Eye in the Focus category receiving 20’000 Swiss francs. First, second or third directorial works are eligible for entry. The winning film from each of the three categories also receives an additional 100’000 Swiss francs worth of distribution support. ZFF intensifies commitment to Swiss film production With the screening of numerous world premieres, Swiss film enjoyed a strong presence at last year’s edition of the festival. This year’s edition will institutionalise the festival’s “Swiss Made” commitment and once again
significantly boost the profile of Swiss film. To this end, ZFF will introduce a 10’000 Swiss franc prize, which will be awarded to a domestic first, second or third work. A specially commissioned expert jury will choose a winner from all the productions in ZFF’s 2014 programme. Das 10. Zurich Film Festival findet vom 25. September bis 5. Oktober 2014 statt.
