NOMINATION AND ELECTION PROCESS FOR BCSF OFFICERS
At no time may more than one member of any particular immediate family be elected to the Board. Employees of the Society are not permitted to be Directors or Officers of the Society, nor are any family members of an employee to be elected to the Board. Directors and Officers of the Society shall be Members of the Society. The positions of Regional Directors shall be elected by a vote of the voting members present, from the respective region for each position at an Annual General Meeting. Vacancies on the Board may be filled at any time by the Board, by appointment. No person may hold more than one office at a time.
The potential nominees should:
Have been active in the sport.
Have been active at a local level in the Province.
Have a serious interest in improving the sport.
Show interest in dealing with issues from a Provincial perspective.
Have the ability to clearly understand the issues that face snowmobilers in BC.
Have the ability to work within a group and contribute to decision making.
To have the time to devote to the duties required of a director (see below).
Show a willingness to conduct themselves within the codes of conduct as set out in the policy manual.
The role of a Regional Director is to provide a regional club voice to the Provincial BCSF Board and Executive Director. The duties of a Regional Director are:
To maintain regular contact with all Clubs in your Region and build a working relationship with each. To provide a positive image of the BCSF and organized snowmobiling in the Province Bring all club successes or challenges to the BCSF Board of Directors and Executive Director immediately so we can be aware and respond if necessary. Input your BCSF communications and activities in the BCSF CRM called Podio. Attend club meetings and events as BCSF budgets allow(expenses paid). We try to have the Regional Directors make at least one meeting each year. Attend monthly Conference calls of the BCSF Board of Directors on the fourth Thursday of the Month at 7pm Attend two annual face to face meetings of the Board and Clubs (expenses paid) location TBD Complete two semi-annual written reports for the face to face meetings to be circulated to all clubs in the Province Submit Quarterly articles for the BCSF SnoScene report in SnoRiders Magazine Sit on at least one BCSF Committee to provide input and assistance. Committees can be formed as needed but current committees Environment, Safety, 50th Anniversary, Membership, Lets Ride BC
The skills needed are
Computer literacy. We operate in a largely digital capacity. To keep costs down we meet by Teleconference monthly but communicate regularly by email, Facebook and Podio. Be able to complete written reports and articles Valid Driver’s license and a vehicle. You will be paid a /km per diem but no vehicle is provided Public Speaking. Be able to talk in front of a club meeting. Must be a BCSF member in good standing
Nomination Form Zone Director Nominations must be received in the BCSF office no later than March 25, 2016 nominations from the floor of the AGM will not be accepted unless the slate of candidates is insufficient to fill all the vacant positions. Only one person per club may stand for nomination and no two direct family members may be elected to the board at one time.
