Installation Instructions 1. Refer to Figure 1 for the proper positioning of the valves and springs. 2. The kit includes 2 large green springs: Use them in the 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator bores. Use the one large yellow spring in the 2-3-accumulator bore. 3. The kit includes 3 small non-painted and 3 medium red springs. Use one in each bore. 4. Check the accumulator pistons and accumulator control valves for binding. If the control valves are binding, use the Sonnax bore sizing tool to smooth the accumulator control valve bore. 5. The new Sonnax retaining clip works in conjunction with the OEM clip. Place the new clip under the bent metal hook of the OEM clip (see Figure 3). This will help retain both clips in the valve body. Additional information for Accumulator Body • Accumulator regulator valves located in the bottom of the bore are known to stick in the bore, causing harsh or soft shifts and clutch failure. For proper operation these valves must move freely without binding. • Sonnax Bore Sizing Tool 36948-12 will clean up and restore the valve bore to OE dimensions and prevent these critical valves from hanging up. • Sonnax offers replacement accumulator regulator valves 36948-13K for the 1-2 and 2-3 location and 36948-09K for the 3-4 location. These valves also include a stiffer retaining clip to prevent overstroking of the valve, and annular groves to keep the valve centered. Spring shims allow for further tuning of shift feel. These replacement valves have a reduced diameter that prevents clutch apply oil from being cut off and eliminates premature clutch failure.

Assembled Sonnax and OEM retaining clip.
