All-Time vs. TAMUK
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 4-5 on the season and will be playing their first Lone Star Conference match of the season against the Zias. The Javelinas are coming off a 1-3 weekend at the Chaps Classic where their lone victory was over Texas-Permian Basin.
Eastern New Mexico is up 39-19 in the all-time series against the Javelinas. The Zias dominated the series until 2005. Since then, TAMUK has won 10 of the past 12 meetings including the last three. Eastern’s two meetings in that time was at home in 2010 (3-1) and in Canyon, Texas for an early season tournament in 2011 (3-2).
Dedra Brown leads the team with 93 kills while Kalani Giddens (76 kills), Stephanie Johns (74 kills) and Kelsey Washington (78 kills) all have 70 or more kills as well. Sarah Fountain is first on the squad with an attack percentage of .342 and 324 assists. Johns (25 blocks) is one of three players with double-digit blocks on the year with the others being Kayla McGlathery (17 blocks) and Fountain (11 blocks). As a team, A&M-Kingsville is hitting .182 but are allowing their oppoents to hit .196.
Zias Snap Losing Streaks With their win over Cameron, ENMU ended a 24-match LSC road losing streak and a 16-match conference winless streak. The last road victory in conference play came on Oct. 14, 2010 against East Central while the previous LSC victory was versus the Aggies at home last season on Sept. 25, 2012.

conference play with a victory. In 2005, Eastern defeated Tarleton State 3-0 at home to start LSC play. That year the Zias finished with a 3-7 conference mark and fourth in the South Division.
I.C. Bhakta Volleyball Invitational Recap At the I.C. Bhakta Volleyball Invitational hosted by New Mexico Highlands, Eastern New Mexico went 0-4 with two losses in straight sets and two in five sets. The Zias opened by falling to Western New Mexico 3-2 and ended Friday with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Colorado Mesa. Saturday followed with a 3-0 loss to Colorado Christian and ended with a five-set defeat to the host Cowgirls.

MSU Hampton Inn-Vitational Recap At the Hampton Inn-Vitational hosted by Midwestern State, Eastern New Mexico went 2-2 with wins over McMurry and Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Zias dropped their first two matches of the tournament on Friday to Southern Nazarene and Southwestern Oklahomas State.
Lawson Named to MSU All-Tournament Team Freshman outside hitter Courtney Lawson was named to the MSU Hampton Inn-Vitational All-Tournament Team after recording a team-high 46 kills (3.29 k/set) with a .150 attack percentage, 44 digs and four service aces.
Zias Returners ENMU returns eight players that saw the court and one player that redshirted from the 2012 team. Leading the way is Lindsey Barron and Kaitlyn Maddams who lead the squad with 324 and 264 kills, respectively. Setter Kennedi Catano (791 assists) and defensive specialist Haley Couch (537 digs) are back as well.

Head Volleyball Coach (First Season at ENMU: 3-6) ENMU Head Volleyball Coach: 2013-Present • Eighth head coach in program history. Valdosta State Head Volleyball Coach: 2005-12 • 129-137 Record • Three winnings seasons in previous four campaigns. • Eight players received all-conference honors in final two seasons.
Sia Poyer enters his first year as the head coach of the Eastern New Mexico University volleyball program after eight years in the same position at Valdosta State. Previously, he had a 14-year stint as the assistant coach at ENMU and becomes the eighth head coach in the history of the Zia program and succeeds his former mentor, Mike Maguire. Over eight seasons at Valdosta State, Poyer posted a 129-137 record including winning records in three of the past four years. Following the 2012 season, the Blazers four All-Gulf South Conference selections tied for the most of any team in the conference. Poyer has guided eight players to all-conference honors over the previous two campaigns. His best season came in 2010 when the team posted a 21-11 mark including 7-3 in the GSC. As a first year head coach in 2005, Poyer guided the Blazers to 10 wins after the program posted four-win campaigns in both 2003 and 2004. The program’s 10 wins were the most since a 15-victory season in 2002. the following season, the team exploded for a 21-15 record and earned a berth in the GSC Tournament. When the season closed, VSU had set records in a number of categories including kills, digs and blocks. Over Poyer’s 14 seasons at ENMU, the squad posted a 187-81 record. The highlight of his tenure came during the 2004 season when the Zias reached teh NCAA Division II Southwest Regional Tournament and took a thrilling five-set decision from Mesa State in the opening round. Eastern also won two regular-season LSC titles and a conference tournament crown over that span.
