The easyCar Club app has been designed from the ground up to take advantage of iOS7 and the iPhone platform. Members can use their current location to find cars and vans nearby, issue and respond to booking requests faster than ever while on the move, send their location to other members at the press of a button, and use their phone’s camera to document and upload the vehicle’s condition before, during and after every rental. In short, the easyCar Club app gives members full control of their account from their iPhone, and gives prospective members a chance to explore the service and sign-up on the go. easyCar Club has seen a 40% month-on-month increase in use since the service launched nationally in February this year. easyCar Club CEO, Richard Laughton says: “We’re really excited to have launched the UK’s first peer-to-peer car rental app. We have already taken the hassle out of car hire, but now the control is really in the hands of our members. By allowing owners and drivers to check their accounts on the go, the app will speed up and simplify our booking service even more.” With the cost of motoring continuing to rise, easyCar Club helps over-stretched households offset the cost of car ownership, while offering those without a car a cheaper and more convenient way to hire. Once accepted into easyCar Club, drivers can search for and drive cars in their local area without any need for further admin or paperwork. All drivers are vetted carefully when they initially register.
Insurance database and driving records are checked upon enrolment to ensure that only responsible drivers are allowed to join. Drivers must be over 25 and under 70 years old, must be UK citizens or living in the UK for at least 3 years, must have a valid UK/EU driving license and have been driving for a minimum 12 months. They must also have no more than 2 speeding convictions on their licence, and no other driving convictions or non-motoring criminal convictions.
Drivers simply choose the car they want to hire for the dates they want, book and pay for the car securely online, then collect the keys at the allotted time (either from the owner themselves or via a secure Key Safe)
