SPEAKERS Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan: Her Majesty Queen Rania focuses on a variety of causes, the most important of which is education, for which she advocates for improved quality and access in Jordan and throughout the world.

Alice Albright: Ms. Alice P. Albright is the CEO of the Global Partnership for Education and comes to GPE with over 27 years of international experience that spans the private, non-profit, and public sectors.

Ahmad Alhindawi: Mr. Alhindawi was appointed UN Special Envoy for Youth in January 2013 given his extensive international record of promoting the rights of young people, and a deep commitment to youth issues.

Chernor Bah: Mr. Bah is a youth advocate and former refugee from Sierra Leone who serves as a youth representative on the high level steering committee for Global Education First Initiative and Chair of the Youth Advocacy Group.

Fatou Bensouda: Ms. Bensouda of the Gambia was elected by consensus Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court by the Assembly of States Parties and was sworn-in on 15 June 2012.

Irina Bokova: Ms. Bokova has been the Director-General of UNESCO since 15 November 2009 and is the first woman elected to the position.

Gordon Brown: Mr. Brown is the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education and Member of Parliament for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, and served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2010.

John Fallon: Mr. Fallon became Pearson’s chief executive on 1 January 2013 and has been responsible for the company’s education businesses outside North America and a member of the Pearson management committee since 2008.

John Ging: Mr. Ging was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Director of the Operational Division at OCHA in February 2011 and oversees the day-today management of all OCHA field operations worldwide.

António Guterres: Mr. Guterres became the 10th UN High Commissioner for Refugees on June 15, 2005 and is a former Portuguese Prime Minister.

Hon. Heikki Holmås: Mr. Holmås is the Minister of International Development in Norway and has held this post since 2012.

Hon. Minister JeanPascale Labille, Minister of Development Cooperation, Belgium Jean-Pascal Labille is Minister of Development Cooperation for Belgium. He is the head of the Socialist Unions.

Anthony Lake: Mr. Lake is the sixth Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, bringing to the position more than 45 years of public service.

Hon. Maryan Qasim: Ms. Qasim is the Minister of Education in Somalia, as well as a medical doctor and lecturer.

Elizabeth Rasmusson: Ms. Rasmusson became the World Food Programme’s Assistant Executive Director for Partnership and Governance Services in April 2013.

Tove Wang: Ms. Wang is the CEO of Save the Children Norway and was the Chair of the Save the Children’s global campaign Rewrite the Future 2005 to 2010.

Hon. Farooq Wardak: Mr. Wardak is the Minister of Education in Afghanistan and is responsible for overall strategic and day to day leadership of the education sector in the country.

Leila Zerrougui: Ms. Zerrougui was appointed Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict at the Under Secretary-General level in September 2012.
