EL DORADO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION CLASS SPECIFICATION JOB TITLE: SELPA Program Specialist Job Purpose Statement: This position is responsible for supporting school districts and charter schools in the El Dorado County SELPA/Charter SELPAs to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The Program Specialist will be responsible for supporting schools in their endeavor to provide quality services and programs to students with special needs. Essential Duties: Program Specialist will provide technical assistance, training, and support to schools in implementing special education support and services for students with disabilities. Responsibilities include: Assist schools in operating programs that support students in the least restrictive environment; Develop, coordinate, and deliver school based professional development; Guide parents in participating in the special education process; Facilitate IEP meetings as appropriate; Coach and assist school special education personnel in identifying and implementing evidence-based instructional practices to improve outcomes for individuals with exceptional needs; Analyze and report on data as it relates to special education services; Develop and update policy and procedure documents and resources; Analyze and interpret laws and regulations governing the provision of special education; Support schools through due process and compliance complaints as appropriate; Support schools in the CDE review process as appropriate; Present to professional organizations and groups as requested; Other duties as assigned. SELPA Program Specialist
Knowledge of California public school systems including charter schools and other reform initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Special Education with experience in the classroom. Valid Special Education Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential or California Administration Services Credential.

Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: Possession of a valid California driver’s license; TB test clearance; Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance; and valid California teaching credential.
