EL DORADO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION CLASS SPECIFICATION CLASS TITLE: Professional Development Director Job Purpose Statement: Under general direction of the Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Accountability assists in developing and implementing professional development programs including the El Dorado Teacher Induction Program and Administrator Clear Credential Program, and performs other related duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions: 





    

Directs the planning, organizing, and managing of the ongoing operations of the El Dorado Teacher Induction Program and Administrator Clear Credential Program for the purpose of preparing teachers and administrators for the purpose of meeting the high demands of schools in California. Directs the planning and development of professional development activities related to the California Standards, including the California Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, History/Social Studies Standards and the California Standards for the Teaching Profession for the purpose of supporting high quality instruction. Manages the planning and organizing of professional development activities related to the state assessment and accountability system, district and classroom assessment practices, effective instructional strategies, and instructional coaching for the purpose of supporting high quality instruction. Provides support to districts in the collection, analysis, and use of data for the purpose of improving student achievement. Articulates with program and district leadership to for the purpose of aligning EDCOE professional development with county and district initiatives and programs. Communicates regularly with site administrators regarding professional development services for the purpose of ensuring clear understanding of the variety and depth of the services provided by EDCOE. Collects and analyzes information and data for state and local program evaluation activities for the purpose of meeting program compliance as required by state and federal programs. Prepares and presents a variety of reports and materials using appropriate technology for the purpose of clearly communicating program data; the requirements of county, state and federal initiatives; and assessment and accountability data. Supervises and evaluates job performance of assigned staff for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional Development Director

Job Requirements - Qualifications: 

Education Required: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid California Administrative Services Credential and Teaching credential are required.



Experience Required: At least five years teaching experience K-12 required; Experience coordinating and implementing staff development programs and experience as a Teacher Induction Director or Coordinator desired.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: 

Knowledge of teacher induction programs; curriculum development, instructional strategies, and technology applications; research-based interventions; second language acquisition and the needs of second language learners.



Skill and Ability to plan, implement, assess and evaluate programs; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; effectively transmit knowledge and skill to others; plan, develop, and conduct meetings and training programs; develop measurable goals and objectives, set priorities, monitor expenditures and evaluate progress toward achievement; maintain positive working relationships with administrators, teachers and university faculty. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.



Abilities to sit for prolonged periods; work accurately with attention to detail under minimal supervision; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; direct the work of others; interpret data from a variety of sources; listen and analyze problems and develop solutions; control quality of project, schedules, and budgets; perform a wide range of professional, administrative, advocacy, and liaison duties; interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies; effectively communicate orally and in writing using correct English and grammar; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and a wide variety of public agencies, community groups and private industry. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.



Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Possession of a valid California driver’s license; TB test clearance; Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance; valid California teaching credential.
