Upcoming Events November 7th PTA Meeting 6:00 pm November 9th Veteran’s Day

Emerson Elementary has made several positive changes for the 2017-2018 school year. First, Mrs. Morgan has begun a Coding Club for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Any student in those grades has had the opportunity to join and attend Coding Club on a specified day during lunch. Students will engage in activities such as: using Microsoft programs, Google docs, and coding with Osmos, code-a-pillars, and dash robots. Emerson has also added archery to its list of extracurricular activities. Archery practice began in October for students in grades 4-12. Vast improvement has already been seen in many students! It’s exciting to see how much these students are enjoying the archery program. Expect good competitors at regional competition this February! Emerson’s PATC organization also has new events in store during the school year. The first one is scheduled in December for all elementary girls. The second is scheduled for March for all elementary boys. Be on the lookout for invitations to these events!

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is a great time to reflect on the many people, privileges, and possessions we all have in our lives. In education, there is much to be thankful for each day, and the people at Emerson Elementary take the cake! Emerson has the best faculty, staff, and students. Any school would be privileged to have these individuals on their campus. Each one makes my job so much more enjoyable. I can’t thank everyone enough for all that they do.

Jensen Key Bryson Rainey Ayla James Gage Keels Emerson Elementary is excited to have a very special guest speaker come speak to our elementary and high school students in honor of Veteran’s Day. Nick Bradley, a former resident of Emerson and graduate of Emerson High School, will be here to talk to students about the importance of veterans. He will also share some of his experiences from serving multiple terms overseas: twice in Iraq and once in Afghanistan.

Congratulations to all these students!

Our hope is for students to understand how privileged people are to live in such a great country and what great sacrifices soldiers and military personnel make in order to protect the freedoms Americans have. I encourage all parents, family members, and guardians to talk with students about the importance of Veteran’s Day.

Thank a veteran for the freedoms we enjoy in this great country, the United States of America. Page 2 of 2
