Major Responsibilities
Master's Degree in Reading and/or Reading Disorders Valid Texas Teachers' Certification Licensed as a Reading/Dyslexia Therapist 1400 Hours of Clinical teaching experience Completed a 2 year course in administration & supervision of multisensory structured language education programs Minimum of five years recent experience in field of reading disorders/dyslexia. High degree of professionalism including strong public relations skills Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with LEAs and ESC personnel Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with parents of students with reading disorders Presentation skills; ability to provide professional development to educators Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision Ability to use technology effectively Willingness to travel Respond to clients’ needs in a courteous and timely manner with current, accurate information. Provide technical assistance and professional development as required by TEA in reading disorders/dyslexia. Provide technical assistance and professional development to meet the needs of LEAs. Provide technical assistance and professional development to meet the needs of parents with children with reading disorders/dyslexia. Provide TEA updates on information pertaining to reading disorders/dyslexia. Provide resources that are necessary to assist districts with identified students and their parents/guardians. Provide districts with information and training on legislation such as House Bill 1886 as well as information in the Texas Education Code on reading disorders/dyslexia. Attend relevant meetings, conferences, and professional development. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
