GKs stand 10 yards apart and volley the ball back and forth for each other to catch. Progression: Roll, Throw, volley, striker from the ground
Trainer or GK volleys crosses for GK to catch. Server should begin serving from the end-line (corner kick angle) and move farther from the end-line to vary the angle. Server should attempt to drive the ball on a trajectory that is somewhat similar to a ball played from the ground, and should attempt to vary the placement of the crosses (near-post, middle, far-post). If server is proficient serving crosses from the ground this is preferable, but only if the serves are consistently catchable and realistic.
GK Works on half of the goal, other GK or trainer serves from 10 -15 yards. -1/4 turn for low shot at feet, volley to hands, shot on half of goal. (shown Left) -Shuffle to touch middle cone, then save low shot back to corner, shot on half of goal. (shown right) 30-50 yards
Distribution GKs stand 30-50 yards apart, and strike long-balls back and forth. Daily practice should include balls struck from the ground, half-volleys, and full volleys (punts). Additionally GKs should practice throwing the ball long for accuracy.
One-touch shots served to the middle 50% of the the goal with the inside of the foot: -ball rolled from the GK to the server -after the GK rolls the ball, she shuffles out to touch a cone and then moves to set.
When practicing distribution distance is not the ultimate concern, rather accuracy and consistency should be the goals. GKs should practice at a distance that they can cover consistently, and attempt to land each ball directly in the other GK s hands.
