2.2

The diecast base unit supports the load cell, barcode scanner assembly, main board and analogue boards. The scale sub-assembly is mounted on the load cell and the steel “L” shaped load receptor is mounted on the four supporting points on the scale sub-assembly. Designed to be flush-mounted in a fixed position in a checkout surface. Instruments may be fitted with a level indicator. Remote LCD single-sided display model 8300RD or 960RD Phihong model PSAA18U-120 mains power adapter. Model 939404 dimensions length 40.1 cm, width 29.2 cm and height 22.5 cm Model 939406 dimensions length 50.8 cm, width 29.2 cm and height 22.5 cm Load cell

The load cell is a Mettler-Toledo, part number SLP33xD, with a capacity of 30 kg. 2.3

Display

The Datalogic 8300RD (Figure 3) or 960RD (Figure 4) liquid crystal display (LCD) provides a five-digit, 15 mm high seven segment weight display. An enunciator to the right of the weight display shows the weight unit. One or two displays may be used. 2.4

Initial zero setting device (≤ 20% of Max) Semi-automatic zero setting device (≤ 4% of Max) Zero tracking device (≤ 4% of Max) Automatic zero setting device Zero indicator Gravity compensation

2.5

Operation

2.5.1

Power on

At power a display check is initiated which shows all the available segments on the remote display. A software routine is also initiated, which checks all the functions of the scanner, scale, remote display and interfaces, before sending a signal to indicate that it is ready for normal operation. Normal operation is indicated by the green and yellow LEDs on dim.

2/11

2.5.2

Initial zero setting

The initial zero setting device has a range of ≤ 20% of maximum capacity. 2.5.3

Semi-automatic zero setting

The semi-automatic zero setting device has a range of ≤ 4% of maximum capacity. 2.5.4

Zero tracking

The zero tracking device has a range of ≤ 4% of maximum capacity, at a maximum speed of 0.5 d per second. 2.5.5

Over and under ranging.

Loads greater than nine divisions above the maximum capacity and loads below gross zero will result in an error being displayed on the weight display. 2.5.6

Alternative zero function

In an event that a weight is located on the load receptor between 2% and 18% of max during power-up, the instrument will perform an initial zero-setting operation and the scale will be at zero. Upon removal of the weight, the instrument will not be able to zero using the semiautomatic zero setting mechanism, resulting in a significant fault. To overcome this scenario the instrument will now automatically power down and power up, resetting the initial zero setting mechanism. An audible indication is given that power has been restored to the scale. If the scale is able to zero at this point, the scale returns to zero. If the scale is not able to zero, the scale indicates a non-weight condition. 3

4.1.1 The instrument may be connected to any compatible point of sale device (POS) if the device has an Parts (Test) Certificate issued by a Notified Body appointed to certify instruments according to Paragraph 1 of Annex II of the Directive 2014/31/EU on Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments. 4.1.2 If the POS has a preset tare function it shall carry out this function autonomously and this function shall be in conformity with the standard (only needed if the instrument has no preset tare function).

3/11

4.1.3 The connection shall be made in such a way that the weight indication, the unit price and price-to-pay indications are positioned adjacent to each other. 4.1.4 In this configuration only, the remote display as described in 2.1.1 may be replaced by a POS display, provided it is allowed in the POS system Parts (Test) Certificate, and that the POS display meets the essential requirements for a primary indication. The POS display must show the live weight as well as the weight unit and the weighing instrument’s metrological characteristics (Min, Max and e =). 4.2

LOCATION OF SEALS AND VERIFICATION MARKS

7.1 The markings are affixed on the sub platter underneath the load receptor in such a manner that they are easily accessible and clearly visible when the load receptor is removed. 7.2 Components that may not be dismantled or adjusted by the user (EEPROM, calibration switch, load cell) shall be secured by a tamper-evident solution bearing a securing mark. The securing mark may be either: − a mark of the manufacturer and/or manufacturer’s representative, or − an official mark of a verification officer.

Annex 1 to UK 3016 How to display the scale load cell software ID version and the checksum of the optional price computation module Background: Read the entire procedure first before performing on a scanner scale. Procedure: 1) Place the instrument into the Diagnostics mode by pressing the Scale service button for approx. 5 seconds – this is the same as the ScaleSentry button and is designated with a exclamation point (!) on the lower left control panel button. The scanner shall then emit one medium length beep. This shall initiate the diagnostics routine. 2) Be ready to look at the maintenance display as seen through the platter window. The display comes on quickly. 3) The seven segment display will scroll through the various software identifiers in a long string of characters. There will be a slight pause between the various identifiers. 4) The diagnostics program shall continue to cycle three (3) times through the complete string, and then the scanner automatically will reset. 5) The string of numbers are shown in the following order; Non-ID data that shows: “c” then the number of calibrations performed on the scale, then 3 horizontal bars and the number of times the scale has been zeroed, then 2 horizontal bars and the gravity zone then a dash “-“ followed by the lower 4 characters of the load cell checksum (F0D2 or F0DF) Note – these values can change. then another dash “-“ followed by the Scale software version (this is only one character long) then 4 more characters showing the checksum “9E0E” of the price computation software, if the instrument is configured that way, or just “----“ if not. The next string following the checksum or “----“ is the weighting embedded software ID, followed by the signal processing embedded software ID. 2-0-0 1-70-28 If there is a custom data string set it will next be displayed, otherwise the above sequence is repeated. The table below shows the above sequence: Characters Cx = x = x - xxxx -x xxxx zzzzz zzzzzzz

ucustomdata

Explanation of indication Where x is the number of calibrations performed to the scale Where x indicates the number of times the scale has been zeroed Where x indicates the scale gravity zone Where xxxx is the load cell software checksum (F0D2 or F0DF) in Hex lower 4 characters Where x indicates the scale software revision Where xxxx shows the checksum “9E0E “of the price computation software or shows “----“ if the scale is not configured for price computing Where the first zzzzz string is the weighing embedded software ID “2-0-0” and the second zzzzzzz string is the signal processing embedded software ID. “1-70-28” Is the value of a custom data string (if present – no data may be displayed if the item value is not set)

10/11

6) To manually reset the scanner into normal mode, exit the diagnostics mode by pressing the Scale Zero button on the control panel. The maintenance display will temporarily show an “8”.
