Medium bodied, the lively palate offers freshly squeezed citrus flavours combined with passionfruit, tropical fruits & a touch of spice. An easy drinking ‘Classic’ Margaret River wine style with wonderful purity – fruit driven, honest & lip-smacking with crisp acidity & a clean refreshing finish.
Bouquet
The vibrant bouquet exhibits guava & zesty grapefruit characters, with lemongrass & hints of dried herbs in the background.
Cellaring Potential: A fresh lively style enjoyed at its best while youthful & vibrant.
Vintage Conditions: The 2014 vintage was built on a solid foundation of sub-soil moisture with excellent (above average) rainfall throughout the winter of 2013. The rainfall ceased almost completely from the end of November through to the end of March providing ideal growing conditions. Abundant Marri blossom leading up to, & during, harvest kept bird pressure very low, & yields were average for most varieties.
The fine days & relatively cool nights of summer were perfect for whites allowing the wines to retain fragrant, juicy characters with deliciously crunchy natural acidity. The dry mild weather continued throughout March allowing the reds to attain full physiological maturity with wonderful flavour & tannin ripeness. In summary; 2014 was yet another excellent season, continuing the dream run of vintages in Margaret River over the last eight years!
Winemaking:
The fruit was crushed, destemmed & chilled before pressing. The settled, clean juice was then fermented at 15oC in stainless steel tanks using aromatic yeast strains to retain fresh varietal characteristics. The final components are then selected & assembled prior to a gentle fining, stabilisation & bottling under screw cap closure.
80% of the fruit for this blend was Estate grown, while the balance was sourced from mature vineyards in the Margaret River region.
