FAITH Magazine Redesign For the redesign of FAITH Magazine, one of our goals was to reevaluate how our readers engage with content to best reach them. We found that people are most engaged when there are smaller chunks of copy as opposed to long narratives, when there is white space, and when engaging graphics allow readers to move around the page easily. In order to achieve this, we redesigned our grid from a 3- and 4-column grid to a 7-column grid. This gave us a flexible foundation. We chose two strong typefaces, Gotham and Klinic Slab, to enhance this foundation and build upon it. Another goal was to be very intentional with our content to allow readers to interact with the content and take it past the magazine. We added in more “call to action” boxes to give the readers the option to take action if they are moved by the content. Examples of calls to action are: Something to Do, More to Read, Exclusive Tablet Content, Engage in Prayer, or Make an Impact. Finally, we have tried to use headlines that draw readers in and engage them, thereby combining aspects of both design and editorial to maximize the impact of the redesign.
