a-b-c VERSE CHALLENGE!
~P~ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27
FACT. Parenting is a challenge. FACT. Life is busy. FACT. There is only so much we can do. ******************** All of these statements combined can overwhelm us, especially when we are handed another task ... such as this one. We, in the CM department do not wish to bring additional stress into the lives of our parents. However, we do want you to consider what things should be priorities as you raise your wonderful kids. Getting into the Word as a family, spending time talking to each other and to God is an important part of raising Bible-based, faith-driven kids. Suggestions: - have your devotional time in the morning rather that in the evening - Adjust the questions to the capabilities of your children. Make it easier and more fun. The important thing is that you will be developing habits that build God and His Word into the life, heart, and mind of your children. Every moment you spend doing this is accomplishing what God’s will is for you and for your family. It will be worth it.
Well Done!

MONDAY HOW DID THE BIBLE GET WRITTEN?
WEDNESDAY
When the oldest books in the Bible were written, they didn’t’ have computersthey didn’t even have pencils! The tools and paper they used was different than ours. Most of the Old Testament was probably made out of long strips of papyrus or parchment. Papyrus was made from a plant that grows in Israel; parchment was made form animal skins. Both could be sewn together and rolled up into long scrolls. You can see some of these scrolls in museums, but there are not a lot around anymore since each had to be written by hand. Because there were just a few, the scrolls were very valuable; most synagogues and churches would have only one copy each!
WHAT IS THE BIBLE’S BIGGEST STORY?
Count up the number of Bibles in your house! There are ________ !
CHECK OUT John 1:29
CHECK OUT 2 Timothy 4:13 and read about what Paul considered to be important! The words in the Bible came from God. That’s why it is called “God’s Word!” God used His people to write down the ideas, thoughts and words that He wanted to put into the Bible. The writers were very special people, chosen by God for this very important task. God used many people, over many years, to get the job done, and God’s words were written exactly the way He wanted them. He kept them from making mistakes. Today we can be confident that what we read in our Bibles is just what God planned for us to know.
No matter where you look in the Bible, you can learn about Jesus. Let’s review the whole Gospel story:
READ 2 Peter 1:20,21! PRAY. Thank God for His amazing, wonderful and powerful Word!
TUESDAY INSPIRED? What does that mean? You might have heard the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Inspired describes the way that God used the Bible writers to write down what He wanted them to write. It is not the same as ‘dictated’ … God didn’t say the words out loud while the writers quickly wrote them down. Instead, God guided the writers’ thoughts, ideas and desires so that every word they wrote was what He wanted.
The Bible’s biggest story is the story of Jesus. In fact, the whole Bible tells his story – about God creating people and saving them from sin. Jesus came to the world to die in our place, to pay the penalty for our sins. If we trust in Christ as Saviour, God gives us eternal life. The Old Testament Bible writers told us that Jesus would be born, live and die and rise again. Even the sacrifices described in Leviticus show us what the death of Christ would be: the perfect ‘Lamb of God who takes the away the sin of the world.’

CAN KIDS STUDY THE BIBLE? Studying the Bible is not as difficult as it may sound. In fact, it can be fun! First, start out by just reading short portions of your Bible and read it in a translation you understand. Ask your parent to explain words that you don’t understand. Then memorize verses that tell you what you should do. As you read, you will have questions about what the Bible means. Save your questions and find someone to answer them, like a parent, teacher or pastor. It’s good to read the Bible everyday. Make it a habit! CHECK OUT Joshua 1:8 Why is it important to memorize Bible verses? A. to remember what God has told us B. to be able to take God’s Word with us wherever we go C. to be able to think about God’s Word at anytime D. so we will know what God wants us to do in sticky situations E. all of the above!

CHECK OUT 2 Timothy 3:16 We can’t put new books into the Bible because the Bible is God’s message, not ours. It contains His words, which He inspired His people to write in a special way. Some people have tried to put new books into the Bible, but others who recognize that the Bible is a very special book kept them from changing it. The story of how God has saved us is complete. God has given us all we need to know about how to live and act. The Bible is _______% complete!
THURSDAY
FRIDAY WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE KEEP TRANSLATING THE BIBLE? Remember the song. ‘Jesus Love the Little Children, all the children of the ______________!‘ There are children and adults all around the world and most do not speak the same language as we do. But let’s start from the beginning: The Old Testament was written in the Hebrew language, and the New Testament was written in Greek. If no one had translated the Bible, only people who could read Hebrew and Greek would be able to know and understand God’s Word. We are very fortunate that over the years, people have taken the time to put the Bible into other languages, including English, so that speakers of almost all languages can read it. What languages can you read? ________________ What languages can you understand? ________________________
An idea for something to make at home together!
There are still many people that don’t have the Bible in their own language. For them to read God’s Word, somebody has to put their language into written words. Then someone has to translate the Bible into their language so they can read it. Imagine if there were no Bible in your language – how would you read it? God wants us to take the message about Jesus to everyone all over the world, and that means translating the Bible into every language there is. That is why we need many people to keep translating the Bible. READ & UNDERLINE Matthew 28:19-20 PRAY. Thank God that we have a Bible that we can read for ourselves. Pray for those who are carefully translating the Scriptures so more and more people can read it!
